Won't help if the snow is falling with a slight wind, it would be miserable.

Saturday looks to be great weather for a contest. And I bet there is lots of great lift as well with all the snow.

Be prepared to run with the lift way out over the BFT's and it should be FUN!

I get lots of sudden icing when I miss my hand catches . Otherwise I haven't ever noticed any.

The DLG's arrive at ambient air temp very fast! I suspect a beer cooler with wings will stay warm much longer, which probably leads to ice build up.

It doesn't always work that way. The Shadow UAV's wings are mostly carbon and they ice up just sitting out side. I suspect the air at home just holds less moisture that here in Afghanistan. Iteresting though. I guess you can avoid the instant variety though.

John I see you remember that mid air I had with Jim.

One further word to our new guys about that mid air event.

[soapbox on]
In the experience I had with Jim Cokonis he was understanding and nice about it.

Two years ago Oleg Golovidov representing the US Team went to fly in the Worlds event. During that event, with all the top pilots in the world there, Oleg's and a German pilot's planes had a mid air. From the reports I read I got the impression that the German pilot was less than gracious towards Oleg. It was not pretty. From what I read the German pilot had neither the character nor the manners of Oleg or Jim Cokonis in my experience.

You are going to mid air at some point and you can choose to react like Oleg and Jim Cokonis no matter what the situation and that would well reflect the example that all the pilots that I have seen in the Blue Skies Series and from what I have read the other pilots in the west have shown. [/soapbox off]

Done! Came in at just over 210g (7.4oz for you Americans) with the Cg at 60mm. You know, it's amazing how I have a talent for taking nice new DLG parts and making them look like they've been flown for a season by the time I'm done assembling them. *Sigh*

Yes, I already maidened her I'll post some initial impressions in the Mystic thread

Nice work B.

PS, I would like to do this task after the contest, or if there is a new winter postal, do whatever is next.
