How "professional" does it need to be? Occasional viewing of planets & clusters, or a large heavy mount capable of photography?

Something like a simple 8" dobsonian would be about perfect. It's portable enough that it'll actually get used, but large enough to have good light gathering and resolving power. Probably better to not have computer controlled. It'll be more fun for us to learn the sky on our own. Not thinking of photography. Just viewing planets, clusters, galaxies, etc the old fashioned way. This will be her first scope. I found an Orion XT8 for $100 and was just waiting for a time I could drive down and pick it up when the seller changed their mind and decided to keep it Now the largest I can find under $150 is a 5.1" Orion, and I'd really like to find something a little larger if possible.

Ummmm, yeah, I really like flying DLG!!!!!!!

Lets just say #11 & I had a very challenging time @ AD, but still plenty of reward if you had a little time to wait for the grass sex to heat up enough to make air go up in the general area. Funnest low level save in a LONG TIME ended the session! Cant wait to see what an even lighter Helios will do!!!!!!

PS, does anyone have a 285???? I need one quick like. Also, what are the flaperon servos Donnie is using? I believe #11 has a sloppy DS09 in his Polaris and after my flutter on the Helios related to DS09's I am not sure I want to put any more in wings.

I need to order 2 flaperon servos ASAP if anyone is also needing some.

Jon, Donnie is probably using the airtronics equivalent to DS-09 the 94802

Y'all are going to have to enjoy the lift without me, I'm working from home today. I might just sneak up to the park and throw some.

Hello Franc, best post in weeks!!!!!!!!

Hey, hows about you and I get qualifieds for the next TS at some point. I have a plan that should be able to make that happen pretty easily!!!!! PM for details as I dont want to post in a public forum things that would be considered poor sportsmanship, you know, things like bringing a shot gun to the contest and shooting #5 & #11's planes from the air just after launch...... You know, that kind of thing........
