Overheard at Sunday's AZ DLG contest:

Steps for Mini-Blaster Assembly.

1. Buy Blaster.
2. Build Blaster.
3. Trim Blaster in Flight.
4. Crash Blaster spectacularly.
5. Collect broken Blaster pieces.
6. Cut Blaster wings.
7. Reassemble Blaster wings.
8....you get the idea.

Hey Greg, did you ever see the writeup that Charlie Morris did on programming the DX7 for DLG? Great tips. Once you get your flap servo throw worked out then this will get your throttle stick set up to deploy the flaps proportionally (very good thing to do IMO) rather than just fixed positions like you have it on a switch. And also help set up your speed, cruise, and thermal flight modes on a switch. You also need to work out that issue where your ailerons turn off when flaps are deployed. Moving flap control to the throttle stick might help fix that too. This will give you much finer approach control which is very important. Look back at post #212 in this thread for the link.

I'm feeling OK... the pain is more annoying than it is bad. Adrian threw the Alula at the hill and I did 45min of ridge soaring yesterday (from sitting in the car ). Sure do miss spinning in circles. I'm really kicking myself about missing the freeze fly, how many people showed up? Did you guys get any tasks in?

We only had 4 guys show up, so flying & timing tasks wasn't very practical. We just had fun flying for a couple of hours until it got too cold. I did test out the sound system and it worked great. Next one will be a full blown contest with tasks, so get your launch help lined up...

Here's some good news to make you feel better...

I've been talking to Larry Romberger, the president of the Remote Possibilities RC club in St. George, the guys that put on the President's Day fly-in down there. I asked about giving us a time slot for an official DLG flight demo, and sent him some video clips. He's all for it and said that would be great. He gave us the 12:00 noon spot on Saturday. Prime time. So hopefully a few of you will be able to make it down for the fly-in. Bring your DLGs and fly the demo in front of all the power junkies. Maybe we could even throw together a little contest somewhere down there that weekend, and call it our February monthly. Don't want to take away from our spring break contest down there in March though...

when the servo is at center move a tooth or 2 down or up or down????
any help there, or do I just center them and install and go with what I get?
Thanks in advance.
Greg, First, reliably center your D47s, the flaps should be matching at 15 to 20 degrees down when you install the servos. If the yoke and servo arm don't match up, remove the servo arm and replace it to more or less match the position of the yoke when the flaps are down 15-20. You probably can't get it perfect because the wipers are fixed in the shafts. I don't know how many degrees down the flaps are set at when the Vandal wipers are glued in. Just make sure they match at servos centered.

This will give you lots of flap and a little reflex that you can mix with the ailerons.

Hope this helps.
John

Hmmm... Does that mean it'll be in the next 6 weeks while I can't put weight on my leg?

SWEET! Adrian and I already have my parents condo booked for that weekend! Damn right we'll be there! Also, we may be able to accomidate a couple of folks for sleeping quarters, if someone wants to stay in the condo. I'm not sure who is goin' yet, but time to start planning.

Aren't you still going to be laid up? I may be interested in one of those slots for sleeping accommodations.
