Alex, I got the B3

Jim, I seem to remember buying 4-40 nylon at HD or Lowes. There's a little box section in both stores full of "specialty" screws and I think they might be in there. Perhaps not the right length, but there easy to trim down.

Ditto on the ACE suggestion, but the one in PG does not carry 4-40 nylon. Lowes and HD have 6-32 nylon.

Use steel screws. Nylon screws that small tend to bind, unless they're machined, and those are for aerospace only. The steel screws will hardly even register on your 0.1 gram scale. If you really want them, order from mcmaster.com, smallparts.com, or try Radioshack.

It rained here (Layton) last night, and the small amount of snow we had is gone. It is very wet out though.

Looks like lunch on Thursday or Friday then...

Ace, I got it from kennedycomposites.com If you check the B3 availability button it will tell you what is coming in stock. You can also custom order colors at no extra cost, but you're looking at a 30 - 40 day wait before it arrives in the mail... which isn't bad. RCPC, a RC groups user on the Blaster 3 build thread, custom ordered and I think it took 30 days.

What do you guys think? If I wanna fly some comps this summer, and I want to take a step up from my AWESOME Longshot1... is the blaster 3 the way to go? I spoke breifly with Mike about it, but would love some input.

My own personal recommendations:

One step up -
* Blaster 2 or 3 (kennedycomposites.com)
* Taboo GT (olgol.com)
* Vandal (jonesprototypes.com)
* Lighthawk/Lightspeed/Blade/Razor (rcbuilder.com)

Two $teps up -
* Stobel (soaringusa.com)
* Concept X2 (hkm-taiwan.com.tw)
* Sirius (now made in USA, momentum-mt.se)
* FW5 Flow (soaringusa.com)
* Steigeisen (skipmillermodels.com)

I agree with Mike. Thats a good list. The FW5 seems like more work to build as I've researched getting it. The Stobel seems like the quickest build but of course is the most expensive.

Stobel is for sure the easiest build of the bunch because it comes with pre-installed Hyperion Atlas DS09 digital servos and RDS control system in the wings. Those parts alone are worth more than $100, not including all the labor to install (a lot for RDS). Also comes with wing bags and throwing peg which cost extra on some of the others. All boiled down I don't see a hug difference in cost between the various high end comp planes. Stobel builds the easiest by far, maybe the easiest to get, and arguably the best overall performer. Easy choice if you have the money. If not then the "One step up" planes mentioned above are all high quality and capable contest performers for less cost.
