TSOL's are hookers at heart. As for what way to grip, do what works and feels good. There is no bast way. I use 2 on either side of peg because its comfy and applies = pressure to top and bottom. Your fingers may vary.

On the hooking just practice as slow as possible. If you get to where your release "Sooner, or later" makes it go straight, just keep adding speed. Look at the launch preset and see if the rudder is going the right direction. You want to kick the nose to the right on launch!

PRACTICE ............................ ALOT.............

Agree with everything said. I'm no expert, but I've thrown enough to know when I release a hooker so now when I get an unexpected hook it's almost always an out of line rudder. The pushrods on both my dlgs grow when they get hot (after flying for a while in the sun) and need minor rudder adjustments (then readjustment back when cool/cold).

I don't use any rudder launch preset... maybe I should?

Good point Finch, if anyone in the group knows the exact moment to let a hooker go, its you!

Catch and release, ehhhh...

My launch preset is only a little up elevator, NO rudder.

I hope my wife doesn't see this talk of releasing hookers. She won't care which way they go. She will be out of town all next week so I am going to try to meet with some of you for some pointers.

My launch preset is up elevator and a bit of wing camber, no rudder. I wonder if a bit of rudder might lessen that first oscillation?

Oh, btw. The boomers were out in full force during lunch today at Rose Park park. Even a dummy like myself could stumble into 5 minute flights

Very interesting reading going on here...

I'm sitting in a board room here in Charlotte, equipment buzzing all around me, and all I want to do is go fly the Vandal that's sitting in the back of the rental car... good thing I didn't bring my radio

I met Paul (The_Builder) last night at his place and checked out his new project and workshop. He's fun to talk to and you can tell he's passionate about his work.

Scott, who sold me the Vandal invited me out to a big sailplane gathering tomorrow, but I'm going to be stuck working.

Great group of guys out here, wish I could come out to some of their contests.

Finch & I just got done with a very respectable flip fest. Lift was sketchy but good at times. Lots of 2 plus flying. Finch is ALOT more comfortable at the edges than I am. He is gonna be hard to beat with the new Stobel.

And Charlie, I just checked the checking account today. ITS GETTING WORSE!!!!!

Is this code for "Charlie I'm gonna buy that Stobel, cause I can't stand to let that Finch guy fly better than me"?

I am ok with Finch flying better than me.

Mainly cuz it aint gonna happen.

Tell you what, if Charlie had offered up the Stobel one trailer ago, I would have bought it in a heartbeat!
