Ah cool thanks what is a tail strike on water likely to do? With the blades spinning so fast, the water isn't so 'soft' I spose!

nothing like that .the tail blades will dig into the water pulling it under .

Trex 450 SE water tail touch (0 min 56 sec)

that's a lucky pilot lol. The tail feathers give continuous air flow to the right of the tail, to counteract the rotational torque of the motor & main shaft, so hitting the water will kick the tail to the left in a best case scenario. worst case, you are slightly tilted to the left when the tail bites water.... it will rotate on the main shaft & sink the tail entirely into the water & pull the bird down with it.

Not true. Only last week I had my landing gear touching the suface of the water and did a backward flip with the entire tail rotor going under and coming out the other side. You lose a little head speed, but it's okay if you are ready for it and add a little extra collective on the other side.

(Seriously though, the biggest problem with tail rotor underwater has to be the added drag. The dense water will be fine in resisting any torque induced movements)

I had an onboard video, but the SD card got all wet and the data was lost.

That's sure pretty. Does it use a shorter shaft to lower the head? If yes, then very nice, if no, then why bother.
