I bought the Hobby King version of the FF Corsair and it came with a 39 gram nose weight molded in the nose foam. I bought the same plane as a kit from Banana and it didn't have the weight. I never flew the kit, but I'm guessing based on everyone's experiences, it's not going to fly good as is. Besides adding a gyro to the ailerons, going to a 3S 350mah battery made mine pretty flyable. That extra power made it hand launch decent.

Just a heads up, the info I posted is for the FLYFLY branded P-51, not any of the or other brand renditions.

The motor in my Corsair finally gave up the ghost. It would just twitch with power applied. Can't complain, had a lot of flights on it. I had another stock motor and everything is back to normal.

I bought one of those HK/Banana Fun Fighter Corsairs to try. It's just about the same size as the Fly Fly Corsair. It's kinda ugly, not even trying to be scale. But as the name implies, it is a lot of fun. On the stock 3S battery it is way fast. A lot faster than the Fly Fly on 3S. Between the two of them it's a blast.

The original motor is marked:
Model FF 3-312
2000 KV

The replacement motor has no markings. But it looks and performs identically as the original.

I'm pretty sure this is what I bought. The picture is wrong but the motor is right.

Nope, I'm using an EP-6030. It's got a lot more thrust than the stock.

FLYFLY P51d 550mm

I wish I would have seen this thread before i bought it. Well I built new landing gear added a steerable tail wheel. I'm trying to stick with the stock motor and 2S battery, CG seems pretty good with battery shoved up there. I break (2) of the stock props every time I fly, the collet is integral to the shaft. I read all these comments on use a GWS 5030 prop, my question is how??? I cant find a spinner or a cap that will fit in that tine hole the original spinner screws into. I cant remove the 4mm adapter that is welded or glued to the 2mm shaft without bending the shaft. I bought a FLYFLY 2 blade prop with spacer but without a spinner cap its useless. I cant keep breaking 5$ props while im trying to get this pig to fly. Can anyone give me model numnbers of adapters you used or your setup with one that actually flies well. Thanks

i still have 2 of these (kits) i've yet to build !! had a hard time figuring out what motor to use. could not get my hands on the stock motor. there are all kinds of prop/collet adapters out there. find a 2mm that looks close to what you need. it's just trial and error on this thing. i was also planning to use a 2 blade prop.

maybe this winter i'll get one of these things flying

I would recommend going to a 3S battery. It made a big difference for me.
