Hi Miggers,

I am getting a little frustrated when building the wing. I don't know why it is going so wrong. I cut everything and mark everything as per the plan but when I fold the wing on my jig, the TE does not meet up like the ones in your construction pics, it is way off!

I will post some pics of a half wing soon, maybe you can tell me where I am getting it wrong.

Thanks for the info Sean, I have started the original sized Mig but am not sure whether to make it electric or for the slopes.

Regards
Ian Pics to follow a little later.

Ian, we cut out the top half of the wing with extra material. After the spar is glued to the bottom wing, fold the top wing over using the jig. With the ailerons hanging over the edge of a table, reach underneath the wing and mark the inside of the top wing using the outline of the bottom wing as a guide. Then cut the top wing to those marks. hope that makes sense

Sean, thanks for the video!
This MegaCool! It provide inspiration!
After reviewing the video have any questions.
1. What are the settings used by the transmitter? What was mixed with what?
2. The sound of the motor ... Such a nice, not shrill, soft ... What is the motor?
3. Based on the video, the plane could fly slowly enough. And this exactly is not stalling. This is due to the design or with additional electronics?

One more question.
Drawing on the angle of the elevator is 1 degree this is true?

Hi Flying Beagle,

Thank you for your quick reply to my wing building troubles, it makes perfect sense! I thought that maybe I was doing something wrong. When I get the right wing shape I can then make myself a template and get "perfect" wings each time.

Would I be right in assuming you have all experienced the same problem?

Thanks again!
Ian

Jim is an excellent resource guy for these due to the time he has put into the other designs. We're putting one together right now ....well Jim is doing 99% of the niggly stuff and there are many places where your mind would be blown if you hadn't seen one done before or been helped along.

Sean says to cut the bottom of the wing to plan and oversize the perimeter of the top one by ~ 1 cm or so. Also over size the aileron. As Jim said once the spar is glued to the bottom skin and the crease is rolled into the wing leading edge but before contact cement is applied to to close the wing,,,,,, you should fold the top over to shape and trace a line on it from below to match it to the bottom surface. Unfold and cut the top to nicely traced outline. Fit the aileron the same way. Glue aileron......then top wing.

Sean will step in if that's wrong ....right ?????

Yes!....Very Kinky!! .......and he has only been in the country a few days!

pistnbroke, all the above is correct!....we do all get the same result when folding a wing. Remember, when you score the fold line, if you go out by half a mm on one end, it can throw the TE out by 10mm. So do as Jim says, leave extra on to trim off later.

No mixing Mewgun. If you want you can, but I have no mixing.
2. The sound of the motor ... Such a nice, not shrill, soft ... What is the motor?
It is an Axi 28??....I will go look
3. Based on the video, the plane could fly slowly enough. And this exactly is not stalling. This is due to the design or with additional electronics?
No additional electronics. Just good plane.

One more question.

I do not measure degree! Just make straight/flat.....0 degree.

Hey Sean, when you do your graphics do you freehand cut them or do you use a plotter?

funny story; on my third fuse I realized I could put the cuts (flutes) on the inside and thought I was gonna have something really kool to share, then realized everyone was doing that already... DOOOAH!!!

I'll keep trying to share something really kool, don't know if it'll happen but I'll try...
