I did not show you what I do with the pins on the inside of the fuzz. Give a spot of glue gun and trim. The ones behind F5 are just fine as they are!

Color scheme comming on nicely!

Want a peek?

This mail I received from David and asked if I could post it for him.

David from California here. I was just doing my regular checking in on your Mig 7 site and saw your build link on RC groups....Wow, 9 pages in 2 weeks. I read them all today getting caught up. It's good to see such a demo recorded. Plenty of good tips.

We still do our build parties. Blessed to have someone laser cut them we completed about 56 kits through three build parties this year. I'd been wanting to let you know I have used your blogspot as an inspiration for the colors on my last mig since you guys really know how to do it. I was running low on material but this is what I came up with. Nothing compared to your work but it'll come with more practice. Since the clear canopy (also inspired by you guys) hides nothing inside I decided to make a cockpit. It's pretty easy once you figure it out.

We also got lucky with someone who does a good job with video and editing. His camera is down for repairs right now but here are some examples of his work recording some combat action. You'll see why we build so many. Though they repair easily too. People do seem to step up and help when we put forth an effort worth getting behind, like the migs.

Pearl Harbor event.

West Coast Combat - Palomar RC Flyers Pearl Harbor Classic 2009 (7 min 4 sec)

A combat promotional video (parental warning for the music)

West Coast Combat Promo Video - I (4 min 32 sec)

A build video from a hanger at a local airport.

Palomar Flyers Combat - Coroplast MiG-3 Combat Plane Build-A-Thon (3 min 34 sec)

Good luck on your color scheme.

Dave.

Daves cockpit.

Hey Sean.

I'm not on RC Groups yet but figured my time is coming up to get in after seeing your build thread... Sorry to see what happened to your last one. It sure was pretty. Lesson learned I guess.

The cockpit is fairly easy. First cut the angle for the front panel and headrest. Then slice down the middle between them. Then fold back each side with hot glue in the crease. Once it sets trim clearance for the panel and headrest. Trim depth for all pieces and hot glue panel and headrest in place. Cut and hot glue in place a bottom from inside. for a cleaner look trim a dash for the panel. If desired add a few gages.

Good luck at Hermanus, have fun.
.....

Dave

Good idea Sean, but there are no for sale signs made of correx around here, this is the Gold Coast-they're made of teak and mahogany . However, I think I missed out by not collecting all of the political signs after election day a few weeks ago. I'll have to keep my eyes open for some lazy candidates remnants.
