Well, I cut out the flaps tonight n' fired her up to make sure the major electronic components worked before I glue it together. Yep, all systems a' go. Boy those are some noisy retracts though! Yikes! EDF's seemed fine @ half throttle, Baby sleeping in other room so that's as far as I got w/ that. Well, have to wait till after Christmas to put her together what w/ all the family do's we got planned.
To those posting top speeds ( I read "tops out at 70 something mph" and "got 65 mph" ) with what are you measuring and more importantly, is that flat level flight? Or in a steep dive?!! Cheers! |

Mine topped out at 79 mph with a 3 mph tail wind and flat approach towards radar gun. Here is my Turbo Jet greasing in.

Too much winter to fly so I'll drive it on the snow instead.

WOW! I never would have thought it poss. w/ a $139 PNP foamie jet! Now I'm really looking forward to getting mine in the air. I spooled her up again today for some interested family members this time @ WOT and she def. has some power. I'd read only 300-400 watts total, (and she weighs in @ over 1 kg!) so hearing she does over 70 mph is a pleasent surprise. And MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

Is everyone balancing their fans? I "re-worked" my fan housings and balanced the fans, and it made a huge difference. They are smooth as silk now. I think this is necessary with these low cost fan units. My fans were way out of balance, they not only sounded horrible, they were robbing tons of power. Has everyone else found this to be true?

Comes in many colors and seems to be very foam safe...for dynam products anyway. I used a flat black but a gloss would look great too.

power question
A friend of mine has one of these turbo jets, but can only get a 2 minute flight even with a 4s 2650mah 40c battery and flying mostly at half power. He says it is drawing 62 amps statically with both motors running full power.
By my calculations he should ideally be getting 2.5 minutes at full power and ~ 4.5 minutes running about half power. Do these numbers look about right to you all? What are typically some running times you are getting with 3s-4s batteries? Could the esc's timing be adjusted to give more flight time? Thanks. Bill |
