There are a few that fly it upside down. Thomas Scherrer is one of them. Personally, I like the Vee far better. Although admittedly, the Vee is soon to become a thing of the past. I have a completely new system of antennas I am developing thanks to a little help from Old Man Mike

Looks good Kendall! Now you need to build two skew planar wheel antennas. You have the skills to do it. Fly one on the TX and on on the RX. I am quickly finding that the dual skew planar wheels is my most flown system especially for virgin flying sites.

Rule #1 - there is no such thing as best in FPV.

I have enough information from that post to only guess at what would work for your circumstances. What are your goals? How do you plan to drive?

My best guess, a cloverleaf antenna on both ends.

You say this antenna has a very wide radiation pattern, I'm guessing around 2-3 db? I have an inverted vee on my 900 mhz tx so I'm going to try that with the stock whip on my rx, then swap rx antenna to this one and compare.

Well I think I made one of your ground plane omni's. I wasn't quite sure on how to attach the ground elements and vertical part to an SMA plug. I soldered the vertical element directly to the center pin of the SMA plug and the ground elements to the outer section for the ground shield. Is this correct?

Looks good to me. Remember that the center wire does not go active until it leaves the SMA connector. So long as that height is coeerc, it will work well.

Oh, well . Then my center connector is too short. Thanks for the feedback.

Ground plane antenna

Hi Alex,

Please take a look at my ground plane antenna for 1.2ghz. Haven't tested it yet. Does it look alright?
Thanks very much.

how would this antenna work with CP like a cloverleaf on the plane?

Ill have an antenna tracker with a CP helix, but Im also using diversity for close up omni, and found this antenna.

If you are already flying a CP antenna on the plane you really should fly a CP antenna on the ground. This one will work ok, but any CP antenna on the RX will do far better.
