Cool. Are you doing CNC molds of just the fuse? ARe the wings two piece, or is that just for looks? If CNC, what machine did you set up?

I am envious, as I think most are of a nice plane.

Good luck.

The Goal is the fuse molds machined first out of aluminum. Once the fuses are proven and perfected then I will move on to the One piece wing- molds for that will be more expensive so I may do that out of corian, acetate or Tivar. The wings are designed after my currently bagged wings.

My machinest is waiting for the final solid files for the fuse now.

One question and one comment...

That nose looks pretty pointy. Does that fit withing the F3K parameter of greater than 5mm radius, or whatever the spec is?

That 3D PDF makes me wanna throw that thing HARD!!! Looks good.

Very nice Doug!
Cool 3D model, almost like watching it fly.
Some might caution against taking the rudderless trend to such extremes though

Can't wait to see the progress!

Doug - just out of curiosity, why is this thread a "rant"?

edit: retracted; "yippee!" seems fitting

Doug,

Nice looking plane. Good to see it coming together for you. Where was the slope picture taken?

Actually Doug, the Cube only tests effectively for a fully symmetrical turned nose. Most of the time I see fuselages that have larger radii in the vertical plane, with the horizontal radii much smaller. The cube appears to test only the largest radius, and give a false reading otherwise. The FAI rules show a quarter circle, however a flat template with a semi-circle permits measurement in both directions.
