I have the easystar not the bixlerbut yes same difference. No my need for speed will now be fulfilled by my grim reaper wing!

Although in the last crash absolutely nothing happened to the skyfun airframe because it landed in nice soft water... :P maybe it will be resurrected one day

Where is your COG? This is where I typically dont agree with everyone saying best COG is centered in the finger holds. My COG, on 2 completely separate skyfun airframes (YES! The first one is still alive!) was as far forward in the finger holds as possible, and still get the plane to balance on my fingers.

This will solve a lot of yaw instability, and pitch instability. Look at the maiden flight from my second skyfun:.
My CoG was pretty much at the front edge of the finger holds.I fly mines on a very basic setup, 3S 2200mAh batteries and just a fixed camera (no pan and tilt) no OSD and a light 5.8GHZ vtx with a FRSky 2.4GHz receiver

Hmm... I think mine weighed a tad more with a 2650mah 3s, but very similar setup otherwise. Try the winglets, mine were made from depron, and hot glued to the wingtips. Easy to remove if nessesary.

Hi to all on this thread - I maidened my ARF Skyfun in December with the rcfoamfighter dudes Turnigy power upgrade (60A Plush & 2836-2350 outrunner). Also from reading this thread back then I ripped out the stock canopy clips and put in rare earth magnets at the rear and a carbon rod through the canopy nose and fuse retained by a rubber band. I've never had a problem with the motor mount so maybe they improved that issue in production by the time I bought mine.

I love this plane! I flew with soft rates from the outset and my maiden was a dream (50% throws both ail and evev and 50% expo - I've not yet felt the need to step this up).

In fact apart from one aborted flight attempt in heavy wind, every flight with this thing has been awesome fun and I've had no mechanicals. I have to say a big thanks to Gree and Aaron and all who worked out the kinks in this airframe over the past two years - its made my time with it very positive.

I'm now feeling comfortable with the handling of it and thinking of going FPV with it. However my FPV experience is limited and I'm thinking something slower might be better, such as my large Teksumo wing. Maybe when I get comfortable with the FPV rig on the wing I'll take the step up to installing it on the Skyfun. If its one thing I've learned in this hobby its to enjoy every step and take your time about it.

Anyway, as a big thanks and a shout to all you Skyfun threaders here's a flight from this week I made with my new favourite battery for this plane, a 45C 2200mah 3S zippy.

Hobbyking Skyartec Skyfun (4 min 7 sec)

I have yet to read all the way through this thread but will get there and if I have questions after doing that I'll post back. I would love to do some FPV cloud surfing in my Skyfun one day.

Today the prop sliced my fingers on launch.

Guess I was a little unlucky, but be away it CAN happen!

luckily the props not as strong as my fingers. The prop broke apart.

Cuts minor (no CA or stiches required!).

Before someone says 'it's never happened to me' - that's what I thought.

I promise never to say it

Did it happen during launch or at pre-flight?

Sorry, didnt see that.

Skyfun:
2350kv HK outrunner motor, 550watts
APC 6x5.5 prop
40A turnigy plush ESC
2x hobbyking MG servos
2200 3s or 2650 3s, flies well with both.
1000mah 1s for keychain HD camera (w/wide angle lens adapter)

Does vertical for a long time. I am quite happy with this setup. It can even handle 4S if I dare try

I had the same setup but a 60amp plush and did run it on 4s with a 6x4 prop! Very fast and ended up tip stalling coming in for a landing, powered up only to spiral into the ground when I wanted to speed up and pull out!

Dead plane!

But still have the motor if someone wants it cheap!

its a great motor. I absolutely love it. Very efficient when you arent full throttle, but punch when you need it.
