On the powersupply it says:
Output: 450W MAX.
+5V === / 24.0A Max - -5v === / 0.5A Max
+24V === / 0.05A MAX
+12v === / 26.0A Max - -12V === / 0.5A Max
+5VSB === / 1.5A MAX - +3.3V === / 36.0A MAX
+3.3V & +5V TOTAL POWER IS 195W MAX
I am planning on purchasing this Bantam BC8HP Charger w/Balancer (280W). My question is - will this Compaq power supply (specs listed above) work with this charger? Is it enough volts and amp output? Or do I need two of these power supplies in series?

Thanks.

Here is a thread with how to get known Server power supplies to power up.

Please do not post questions in that thread. It is just to post results in after the solution is found ,not question. Search it and see if the one you are asking about is listed.

12 V @ 26 amps. is 312 watts but some chargers require more than 12V to reach max. output.

You can't use 2 of these power supplies in series on that charger, assuming you plan to use the 12V output, as the charger it limited to 18V input. Bantam specs say it needs 12V for full output, so this power supply will cover that. Next the BC8HP is rated at 280W, so assuming a 20% loss, 336W is needed for full charger output. This power supply is rated at 312W, so it will be close but I would bet it would be fine.

Making the PS work is another story. It looks like connects to something like a standard ATX motherboard plug, so it may need mod'd like an ATX power supply but that is up in the air in my mind. It will come down to how much you are willing to read/tinker with it.
