Is that radio only for the UK? I see no mention of it anywhere else in the world.

From what I see, this new JR is being packaged for the whole world
I'm sure that JR will have FCC certification for the NA market, regardless if Horizon agrees to market it, or not.
If one looks at the specs. The AC charger is "universal", it accepts 100Vac to 240Vac 50-60Hz.

Certainly not just UK but all or most of the world. The only uncertainty is about what will happen in North America, where JR has been associated with Horizon Hobby and therefore Spektrum. Will JR keep DSM2 for NA?

The impetus for this move is that Spektrum technology is not acceptable in a number of countries, including Japan and possibly European countries in the future. So JR is going to a full frequency hopping system.

The earlier DSMJ protocol used by JR to meet Japanese requirements was a firmware change to DSM2, but the new DSSM is different in hardware too.

I'm not sure if the currency for the States will be 1:1 but I saw the price for UK 299 pounds (with VAT)

Because 7 channels defines one level of sophistication for JR. The next level is 9, then 11.
It's a question of marketing:
5 channel = very basic (Dx5e)
6 channel = entry level serious radio (DX6i, 6EX)
7 channel = all you really need (DX7, Futaba 7, JR DSX7)
8 channel = the new features (DX8, FG8)
9 channel = deluxe (JR X9303, Futaba 9)

After that it's less well defined.

This radio heralds the introduction of JR’s very own DMSS 2.4GHz technology. DMSS stands for Dual Modulation Spread Spectrum, which basically means that JR can adapt it to be either a full ‘frequency hopping spread spectrum’ system (FHSS) or a ‘direct sequence spread spectrum’ system (DSSS).

So this will be able to do the new FHSS AND DSM2?

That's a definite maybe.

To me, RX voltage telemetry is nice but mah is much more useful. Voltage will sag based on how heavy you're on the throttle so not really true feedback of how much more capacity you've got.

Backwards compatible with DSM2 would be awesome.
