That LSO race was good.
The distance between us at the end was about the same as it was at the start.

I'll tell ya Larry. It was a fantastic race. Although, Im my own worst critic. I have fun no matter what happens, but when I do something stupid, I get angry at myself. For instance... hahaha.. I was trying to run as clean as possible, keep as tight a line as possible.. anything I could do to keep up w/ you. I feel you are a very respectable and a damn good racer. I felt if I can finish anywhere near you, Im doin alright. You got flighty on the last pass on the back stretch and I missed my opportunity to come very close to a photo finish with you. Just a rookie mistake. I went to the outside rather than being aggressive and trying to cut between you and the bouy, as the last thing I want to do racing is damage anyones boat, and I didnt stay on a good right turn. My point of view, I lost my boat in your roost for a fraction of a second and ended up heading towards the SE corner of the lake. DOH!!! Ahh I was so bummed at myself.. but I was also pretty proud I kept the heat on you all 4 minutes. Had you squirrlied her out twice, I might had a better chance. ha. I even thru in a barrel roll for the crowd, just to be sure everyone stayed pumped!

One issue I found I am having w/ my boat and the offset rudder, Im giving her everything shes got for left turn to get back in from rounding the inside of the start/ finish bouy. Thats killin me on speed in that section. She just doesnt want to turn left at all. I had to get off the throttle I think twice to be sure I got to the left of bouy 1. I gotta get that figured out.... However, Im loving this Geico boat. Shes handling race conditions quite well I think.

I have the same problem with the Genesis but already know why. It has the stock linkage (and rudder/strut as far as that goes). Mine is "pulling" the rudder just fine but when it's time to push there's too much flex to make it happen with power on.

I changed my Genesis to 4-40 right off the bat. The Gieco, because of the offset, is actually pulling to turn left. It pushes to turn right. So that rules that possibility out.

Maybe a stronger servo to overcome the motor torque.

It turned amazingly well when it was all inline. I dunno, I may need a new servo anyway. Mine had a few water dropplets on it after that race and now its got the twitches.

Hebner's Q-Offshore cat on a solo run.

HebCat.wmv (2 min 21 sec)

The weather just really didn't co-operate as far as having any real races today. (couple of heats actually formed but turned into a solo run by the end of them) Started off with about a 10 mph from the SW that was up to around 20 mph + by 10:00 AM

Here's where I gotta let the computer that's rendering the vids catch up for a little while.

The attempt at a LSH heat. That much wind just does not mix well with lightweight hydro's

And another attempt at the one that's really frustrating me. At least I didn't have to use the rescue boat to get it. Ready to change it's name though.
"The King" (not Elvis but it is "rock n roll")

Final one for today. An attempt to run spec tunnel.
I really wish we had some video of the recovery boat recovery after Tiqueman pushed off in it and we found the trolling motor had died.
A nixture of hand paddling and trying to reel it back in with a light tackle fishing reel.
