Heat 5 Limited Spec Hydro

Another loaded start. I at least finished this one even if it was in 2nd place (also known as last).

Very nice job Bill.
My second time out, and I forgot my camera again.

After watching the "P" Mono video, I realized we did 7 laps.
No wonder my temps were about 10 degrees higher then normal.

And speaking of batteries... Is Spec offshore always a 4 min race? My best batts couldnt cut it. At about 45 seconds til they lost thier "umphhh". At 25 seconds til, they were done. Id have to go 4S2P if that continues. 5 laps is great, 10 laps.. not so great.

Yep, offshore is a timed race, not laps. You can go to two smaller packs in parallel. For example, instead of one 5000mAh pack, use two 3000-3200 packs so you have 6000-6400mAh.

You could also play around with props to get your amp draw down.

For LSO (4 min.)
Two 4S 3700 to 4500 packs work great.
7400 to 9000 mAp's on board.

For P or Q Offshore 10,000 mAp's on board.

So Im looking at batteries and trying to figure out how to swing it before the next meet. Im thinking Turnigy 4S 3600 or 4000mah together for 4S2P for 7200 - 8000 mah. Is 30C going to cut it? Theres not a huge price difference in 30 to 40C. Maybe 10 or 12 dollars. But the 30s are in USA, 40s are in HK. My thoughts, although sometimes wrong, are being its a spec class boat and not wildly modded, 30C would be fine... but would it be fine for 4 min of WOT? Thoughts anyone.. anyone?

30C will be fine.
Because the average AMP draw is not high.
My 4500 packs that I use for LSO are 30C.

Two 30C 4000's in parallel, equals 8000mAh = 240 continuous amps. WAY more than adequate for spec.

Cool guys thanks. Im thinking of approaching this boat differently now. According to the designer, speed will get the bounce out of the boat. I did the offset conversion and hours of tuning today and I cant get it to settle down. Im going to try a different motor, just to pull some speed w/ it and see if it does in fact settle. Bill and I discussed it a bit and he had a good point. The Genesis bounced horribly on its 3S stock set up and on 4S. It wasnt until I got it in the high 40s low 50s that it settled down. Maybe Miss Geico will become my "Q" boat.?

Hey Tiqueman. You might want to check this thread for some more info on the Geico and offset rudder. Looks like they are making it work on 4s.

I know you mentioned on OSE about running this weekend and I didn't say anything. I have too much to do already this weekend but if we can round up enough people that want to go (and retrieve boat) the Saturday or Sunday after Thanksgiving I'd be game for that if it's weather fit.
