Walkera Lama 2-1 and ... video piloting

I have the small RC 2.4 gHz Walkera Lama 2-1 (length 200mm, weight 50gr) and i want to put in a small Wireless Camera for a video piloting. I know that this helicopter is small and light and it is almost for indoor use but i want to fly it via camera in house and outdoor when the wind is apsend. Later i'll buy another larger outdoor heli so i'll use the same wireless camera simoultaneously.

In that time and for the Lama 2-1 i want to find the ideal wireless camera (small and light). There are plenty of cameras in ebay such the below
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
but they are about 20gr without the battery.

I need something lighter.I found the products
http://www.fpvhobby.com/94-8ghz-10mw-camera.html and
http://www.fpvhobby.com/98-4ghz-mini-combo-set.html

Does it good for the Lama 2-1? Whats type of camera-receiver-transmitter e.t.c are a good set for me?

Thanks,

Vassilis.

Has anybody tested the micro wireless camera from FPVHobby.com to a small helicopter like as my Lama 2-1? Can i connect the camera with the battery 3.7v 650mAh from the Heli? How many meters is the range?

Thanks,

Vassilis.

Vassili,

don't waste your time with the ebay stuff. Most of them - but not all - are junk. Get a system from a reputable vendor and combine it with the smallest/lightest possible camera. Buy a high powered VTx (200-500mW @ 2.4Ghz) if you want to invest in something suitable for outdoors use in the near future.

Your biggest issue will be multi-path reception when you are flying indoors. This will drive you crazy even with the best quality/most expensive equipment.

I would suggest you buy a larger airframe for your first steps in FPV. It makes setup and troubleshooting easier and it's more forgiving as far as equipment placing is concerned. Miniaturization is very challenging even for seasoned FPVers - you can always tackle it later as you gain experience.

Dimitris

PS May I suggest Zoltan at www.nghobbies.com for your shopping. His service is second to none!

Oh - I just googled and saw what this Lama 2-1 you are talking about is!
I thought it was as large as my Esky Lama v2 - you might as well forget FPVing with it for the time being...

Dimitri thank you for your information, i know that it is more difficult to have a video piloting in a small/light heli than a large heli but it isn't impossible. If the camera is about 3gr and the source (batterry) is the same with the heli, where is the problem? My heli is 2.4GHz. Do you think that may i have problem if the wireless camera is the 2.4GHz? Maybe the 1.2GHz or the 5.8GHz is it more practical?

Thank you/euxaristo patrioti,

Vassilis.

Aptalikos,

not only will it be more difficult to pilot this thing due to airframe's inherent instability.
Your biggest problem will be coming with a reliable and most importantly interference free setup in this scale.

I bought the same cam/tx you want at FPVhobbies :http://www.fpvhobby.com/94-8ghz-10mw-camera.html

they cut the connector to add their own wire, probably to make it lighter. But in the cable it have two voltage regulator 3.3V. Apparently they don`t had test the cam after the mod

Buy your cam elsewhere, it will be cheaper and will have the essential connector.

i send an e-mail last week, no answer. I will try again tomorrow.

you can read the subject here: http://www.rc-cam.com/forum/index.ph...z-camera-hack/
