I have been using the 4-site motor in my GWS 30mm edf fans and get 21+ grams thrust from them. Do you think this motor is hotter than the 4-site motor? Also I've seen the revel proto motor 8mm isnt it the same as the SP? (At twice the price at the LHS)

MC,

My SP motors are getting stronger as they get broken in.

Bud has also experienced this as he is over one hundred flights on his motor now.

I would love to hear how they perform in an EDF.

Mine "dispatched" about 8 or 9 days ago... rats, hoping they would get here sooner. My UM T-28 is just sitting there, waiting...

has anyone tried emailing horizon asking for all the burnt out motors? might be a neat way to get connectors and pinions.

(sorry..couldn't resist!) maybe the sound of yet another stock HH motor goin out? lol!

Seriously though...what Razor said about pinion spacing (between gear and can) on the SP motors being hit-and-miss is true...the pair I just got from HK shows a marked difference in where they are placed on the shaft....not that it matters coz they're both comin off anyhoo...one way or another!

Sorry there Mnovotny...ya got lost in the mix there. I'll field this:

In my personal experience (so far), I've had the pleasure to notice both a performance and longevity gain.

I've tried pretty much all the HH brushed motors in my 4Site...only after installing an SP motor can it now hold a (barely) sustained hover. (and it's a real veteran machine, lol! Lots of glue and carbon reinforcements.)

As for longevity, I'm at about 120 flights now...still going strong.

Others have had slightly different results...I think it's a crapshoot, motor to motor...as w/ some other of the Chinese mass-produced products. (although, in their defense, it appears the Q/C is getting better)
