Repainted Parkzone P-47

Hi Guys, I'm new to RCGroups.com. I've been flying for 40 years though. I got out of the hobby back when nitro was the only option for larger scale planes. Now with the latest technologies I've been lured back into the hobby to my wife's horror and to my own peril!

I bought a slightly beaten up Parkzone P-47 and nursed it back to health. I changed the graphics on it and experimented with different paints in the process. I wanted a shiny aluminum look instead of the dull silver it comes with. I also made some of my own decals. It's not exactly how I imagined it and may change it some again but for a first effort I can live with it. I can't wait to get back out and fly it again now that it's all cleaned up. The next few days show possibilities of the rain letting up a bit. I absolutely love the way this thing flys!

Here are some pics.

got it!! flew mine yesterday withe pretty high winds and still flew good, had some issues landing it and taking off due to the plane tail drag and high winds... it looks like a beauty in the air.. wao... now have to get the flaps on so i can land a little cooler!!! this thing is heavy and comes really hot to land

I originally though that but after I got to know the plane a little better it actually files very well when slowed down. I do love the flaps though, without them you really have to have a flat glide slope to keep the plane from picking up speed.

yeap i guess you are right man! i was flying really erratic... the first flight.. after the second flight i was doing very low passes with control even when i had a really high cross wind... guess the wind was really bad even though it is a little heavy... the trojan is a child compared to this.. you really have to be on top of it all the time

Tips, yes!

Preflight:
- Check CG w/ battery in place
- Double check all throws/rates vs the manual
- Check servo directions, esp the AIL and EL
- Double check CG
- tighten prop nut
- Triple check CG

Flying:
- No flaps for first few flights, then never on takeoff
- hold full up EL when on the ground to prevent nose overs
- Use a very long takeoff roll on this plane
- Bump the throttle to get it moving in grass (takes practice)
- As soon as you touch down, take the flaps off and hold full up EL
- once in the air, fly faster and higher than you think necessary, then work your way down, first in speed, then in altitude.

The only thing about a dx6i is that you only have one position for flaps and you can not slow the servo down on deployment so be careful on that.

You can do 2 position flaps on the dx6i. I do all the time. You are right about the slow down though.

do not fly AT ALL in windy conditions... i did my self maiden it yesterday and it was too windy.. i have a super cub LP.. a eflite apprentice, a eflite mentor, and an eflite mini funtana x ( still learning to fly it) and now the p47 PZ... please go as high AS YOU CAN AND TRY TO GET THE FEEL WAY UP IN THE AIR.... it fly different than all planes i have.... close to the mentor... but not quiet there.... so get the feel... watch for the banks rolls since wing tip stall will happen a little bit... and make a few passes since the landings are a little hotter than the trojan !!!! go get it!
