Brilliant! I've eyed cardboard tubes for years but never figured out a use for them really besides bending depron over them, and here Kevin Cox, the originator as far as I know of cardstock ducting, comes up with another great use for something else. Bravo sir!

I was thinking of making a new motor housing for my fan as well, but was probably going to go with glass, epoxy, and a smooth male form, or just buy an innrunner that would fit. The single fan 65" long F-15 I designed for it has been stagnant now for a year, need to get back on it.

Today I did a balance run-up on a 6S 4900mAh pack (80% charged). I used a CC 110HV but I haven't setup for an outrunner yet, that will be tomorrow. You will notice in the photo that I used a Wemo Midi fan spinner. No, it doesn't fit yet, but the stock Hayoe wobbled like mad so I decided to give it a go.

6S isn't much but it was smooth as butter and saw a max draw of 26amps. Tomorrow I hope to try 10S.

I've measured two of these and they both proved to be about 930kv.

Got a note from Larry at JHH. They have some rotors out getting ballanced right now so it will be a little longer wait for my Turbax rotors.

My setup (4" Haoye) on 12s 3700mAh was right at 89-90amps. The run-up was brief....30-40 seconds and the motor and battery (partially discharged) were warm. Tomorrow I will go to 10S 5000mAh packs, take amps and voltage readings.

That's about the right ballpark for ambient temp this time of year.

I got 95-96amps, on the bench; & from cc120HV ICE datalog in flight @ 100% throttle, 43.32v 103 amps 31126rpm (max 106amps w/ temp at 98degF.

=2700 Watts
I haven't had it in my teststand with pull-scale yet.... but it will come soon.

The Turnigy Super Brain can measure the RPM's but you have to tell it how many poles the motor has..... but I haven't got a clue.....

Does anyony know how many poles this motor has...??

What kv motor are you using? Based on your numbers that is 718 loaded kv. So its too many for 650kv and loaded off 880kv tells me its struggling a bit except your amps are good. The motors kv must actually be around 800?

Rvincent, I only ran the Scorpion 800kv & Neu 15xx motors. Lee shud have the pole number for the Turnigy. Or canone count it off the pix that Lee posted?

The Turnigy motor is 8poles

Poles are counted by the magnets not the stator

You need better batteries. Your voltage is dropping to 3.0v per cell at only 90 amps. Your packs are just about dead. They can be used on a prop plane or something, but for edf they are done.

On 10s and the Haeyo rotor you should be hitting over 4,000 watts at 115a or so.

Probably wasn't but that wouldn't account for the voltage loss. I have found the lip only adds thrust but really doesn't change watts much.

really? ive never seen that. load normally go up a good amount. probably bacd packs too

Only if your motor is on the edge When I was Dynamax stuff I found that adding the lip only raised amps like one or two, but the thrust went up 1.5lbs.
