Thanks Bob. I showed my girlfiend, but she wasn`t very impressed. She asked if I was going to put flowers in it for her................. but I knew my buddies on RCG would appreciate my work. LOL

Bill, here is a copy of post #485 is has the numbers from the 4" fan and the 1100kv motor. Pretty hot set-up. I`ll be putting it into something.

OK guys here are some numbers to chew on. This is the Turbax rotor cut down to fit in the Haoye 102mm (4") shroud, driven by the Turnigy 4030-1100. The shroud is old and is slightly out of round and so the gap is not that great but it`s acceptable. The batteries are the blue Turnigy 25c 5000mah.

I cut and reshaped a midifan intake ring ti fit and glued it to the shroud, and sealed the gap with tape. Quick and dirty.

10s

105a
36.0v
3.8kw
11 lbs thrust
221 mph

11s

120a
40.6v (aprox 3.6 per cell)
4.9kw
12.5lbs thrust
237 mph

12s crazy (for this motor)

145a
42v (aprox 3.5 per cell)
6.1kw
14.5lbs thrust
255 mph

There it is. These are not super accurate numbers, but close enough to get the message that the rotor still works well at 100mm. The 11s numbers are very similar to a very high-end 100mm that can cost 7 or 8 times as much when you include the Neu to run it. I`m not saying it`s as good. I`m just saying the numbers are similar

^hence why i am divorced...women:
Lee, im pondering the 4.5" for my mirage ,but she is bigger than most (45" span /71" long approx). my ideal weight would be around 15 lbs but with my luck she'll be a plumper a 20lbs . at 15# my watts are 320 and at 20# they're 240 . will 240 be enough for a jet? im gonna swiss cheese the airframe and cover with monokote to lighten her up. also 2 layers of 4 oz. glass wrapped with carbon tow heavy enough for ducts? first time using glass for ducting. thanks

That should be great in the Matrix. The 11 lbs was with an intake ring and open exhaust but even with ducting you should see about 10. The add a cell for turbo boost

Glad you liked my plug idea. If you can't find exactly what you are looking for get something a little bigger and then cut it down when you join the two halfs.

Guess what I used as release adgent on the glass. Ever heard of Rain-X? Worked great. Only took seconds to apply and didn't effect the glass at all. That was poly resin not epoxy resin.

rain-x is a car wax that is supposed to shed water better than others. supposedly works good on windshield glass too.

Turns out that the weather tomorrow is supposed to be good, so I`ve done a quick finish on the nacelle tonight and plan to get it in the air tomorrow. I didn`t take any pics along the way due to the lack of time, but I`ll do another one (I have another plane that needs one). So I`ll take more pics on the next one.

The fan gets the mounting tabs cut off of it, then it is a friction fit into an inner mounting ring glued inside the nacelle. A little tape is added to the outside of the fan if needed for a tight fit. Then I`ll use one or two set screws to make sure that the fan doesn`t rotate inside of the housing. Then the rear section of the nacelle will be attached to finish it off.
