The HW730 rotor on 12S 3700mah pack (70-80% charge) delivers 2279watts (53amps @ 43volts (46.8 static)). This was without an intake lip or exhaust. I like the low current draw.

This was with a 880Kv motor? Amps are so low that you could possibly use the 1100Kv motor as well for higher performance.

Yes, it is 880kV. I was thinking in terms of a twin powered by a single 12s 5000mah pack or a single fan powered by 2600 or 3000mah pack.

Should get a shipment with 12s 5000 Nanotech this week..... then I just have to make the exhaust duct for the Savex F-16.....

Setup will be Hayoe 4.5'' with std. rotor, Scorpion 4035-560, Turnigy superbrain 100 amp, 12s 5000 Nanotech.

I just picked up the haoye 5-inch fan at a fly-in last weekend, and i'm hoping to use it with the 880K/V turnigy heli motor on 10S. Do you think this is too much for the motor? I'd like to keep the amps not more than 100-120 so i can use the 5000 packs i have. From reading this thread it seems like the motor should handle it, but i'd still like to see what the experts think. The fan will (eventually) be going in a byron f-16 i am re-furbishing.

well, depends what rotor....presonally....the stock hoaye 5" rotor is going to be a whole lot of load for the 880.. even on 10s. you may want to try a turbax rotor, that would keep you around 95-100A. the stock hoaye 5" rotor is going to be a solid 130A on 10s, with good strong packs..

There is a thread on the Haoye fans with the Turbax rotor. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1324088 I don't know if I did that right. From what I have been playing with I think you'll smoke the motor with that rotor.

Do you think it would work to use the 880K/V motor with the stock 5-inch fan on 8S or 9S? I'm not trying to tear the wings off here... so i'd be happy with even 10-lbs thrust. Also the air is a bit thinner where i fly (our field is at 4000 feet ASL) so maybe the thinner air would make it suck less amps??

One thing I still need to order is the 6 mm shaft which used to be available at EJF.com. Does anybody know where to get one?

Another question:
I already have a het 9305 90 mm fan with a arc 36-75-1.5 producing around 3000-3400 watts on 12 s 5000 mah.(don't got the exact number). I am getting slightly impatient so I thought I might try this out.

Will it be able to fly my Falcon 120?

your talking at least a 16lbs plane ...might be a bit much . think you need 4000 watts for a Falcon 120 .

Thx Sally. I think you are right but it will only be temporary until I get the Haoye/turbax fan ready. I just need to know if it can get airborn with decent speed (90 mph) with my setup. Any idea if that's possible?
