Those fans have adaptors that are known to wobble. If you do a little searching you will find much info.

Looks like the shaft needs to be changed.
Also, running an outrunner in a plastic shroud like these without reinforcing the mounting area is VERY DANGEROUS. Please check the early part of the thread to see how to reinforce it.

Thanks Scatsob:
I had a 6mm hardened shaft that I checked with the fan and adapter. Sure enough the adapter is the culprit http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1801. Still looking for an alternative adapter without luck. It seems most use a different fan.

Thanks Knife Liddle:
I used some 5.6 oz carbon cloth for reinforcement. 2 layers of cloth on the ID of the motor tube and 4 layers across the inside of the spider. There is about a 1/8 radius of cloth that extended to the spider. Vent holes where then routed out and are smaller than the originals.

Ran it up on a 7 blade Haoye rotor and adapter. Running smooth now with 0.002" runout. Now I need to find the numbers that this produces on 10 cell. Still may go with a Turbax fan or try a CS 12 blade. I am using a YEP 120A HV controller.
Thanks all

Check SDSHobbys.net

http://www.sdshobby.net/Wholesale-Di...ies_c2803.html

seems like they have more shafts..

Also, to get mine running more true I held onto the outrunner and twist the shaft adapter onto the motor shaft while pressing down...seemed to work on 2 different 6mm motor shafts from the haoye fan.

Seems like if you can get the shaft adapter bottomed out it runs more true

That's why I don't like those full length flats. I suppose rotating the adaptor did not help? Hope you find a solution & share. TIA!

Phil

ps: I'm assuming U hav the collet type?

I was going to buy an expensive fan for my new purchase, but thought to myself today....why spend a ton of money when I have a 15lb thrust setup like this. I am going to install the 4.5" with the Turnigy 880 of 12s in my new used BVM MAverick.

Been using my 110mm setup with George's adapter http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1206 without problems. Its uses 1100 kv turnigy motor on 8 cells. A little underpowered on 8 cells.

I kind of went through this thread but got conflicting information, so I thought I would just ask the question directly.
I acquired an assembled:

Haoye 4" 102mm with motor adaptor.
Turnigy 4030-1100kv
Turbax rotor copy, (RC Lander 120mm rotor turned down)
CC 160HV ESC

I plan on using our AGA Power 65C 12S 3300mah
My question is, am I going to blow up this motor?
It will be installed in a VERTIGO Rebel.

I use 10-11s 25c 5000mah with that fan/motor. 11s can hit 135a
With your better lipos on 12s you could easily hit 160a or more. Too much for the stock motor to last very long. With your equipment I recommend no more than 10s unless snow is on the ground,, then maybe 11s.

Better stick to 10s then. You could go 12s with the 880kv motor.
