Also the adapter on the 4 blade CS 120 can be off center. If you can't get it to work, go with the Turbax rotor as shown in this thread. It will perform well and fits that shroud perfectly.

Thanks for supplying the link Mark.

Be careful with that HK 160 Tom, they develop a lot of heat on 12s so make sure it has lots of airflow. I would concider them a 120a esc.

The winding post is still a work in progress. I hope to add to it this weekend.

30 pounds of thrust

For a 30 pound thrust setup running a 12 cell twin is there a better way to get there?

My XPS Pro lists 16 cells at 205 amps- they don't post wattage which is somewhat lacking but ill figure it at about 13000 watts.

A twin 12 cell @ 4800 watts X 2 = 9600 seems to have a huge efficiency boost and also a low cost solution.

I guess the efflux with the dynamax is going to be higher but is there soething else I am missing?

Nope, your thinking is right on....I have a couple of haoye fans, I only need 20 lbs of thrust and it seems like going twin is better all around in regards to watts to thrust with two of them vs one..If I can do 10lbs at 60 amps on 12s then double that I can use just one 5000mah single pack

What's it going in?

This setup will have higher NATURAL efflux than the dynamax....

Total CFM is what's important turbine or edf...

Turbine eflux is 700 - 1200mph....there are no mach 1 retail model jets that I know of

which plane are the fans going in?

A-10?

Regards

I think your on target

No need spewing 1200 mph efflux on a 150 mph airframe.. Even at 200 mph we seem to be crammed into a wall as far as speed goes for our toys. I guess if I wanted a straight line speed record machine then it makes sense but what I see for the most part the efflux is not needed.

Motor Winding

Hi Lee

Would you know of a motor wind to keep the amperage around 120 on 12 cells with the 4030 on this setup?

Turnigy 4030-880 Outrunner/ Haoye 4.5" / Turbax rotor...15+ lbs Thrust for about $200

Its the setup in this thread.

Sorry if I missed it but spent a few hours looking through the 120 pages and did not see it.

Or perhaps a 120 amp wind for the 14 cell controller you suggested. That may give me a little more push.

Thanks Lee

Rick

Rick, on my 25c Turnigy cells I hit 135a on 12s(aprox 42v). On14s holding aprox 51v a kv of 750 would give about 33k rpm and 6kw, that would put you at near 120a.

Two years ago there were not any factory motors this size in the 750kv range but I think there are now. That would be cheaper than rewinding 4030s.

I'll have to go back and check my notes on turns vs KV. I get back to you. I think I started a thread on it. I'll see if I can dig it up. Seems like it was 6 turns, but I'll have to check.
