Capt, Move your EPA all the way up on all channels to 125%. I love how Alex programmed the arming & disarming of the motors. (Right for on - Left for off)

Also, don't forget to calibrate the neutral position of the gyros before flying. First tilt the yaw stick left, move the pitch stick down while having the throttle stick all the way down too. Watch for the green LED to blink a few times. When it stops blinking, you're done.

Test flight in the garage went well! Wish it was not blowing snow and windy so I could fly it outside but that will have to wait.

I will calibrate the gyro's also as I haven't done that yet.

Troy how do you use the GUI to change PID settings? I can't seem to change any settings on it.

You'll want to calibrate the Wii before every flight. Takes less than 2 seconds.

To change the PID values, place your mouse in the numerical box, click and hold the mouse and the drag it left or right. this will increase or decrease the settings. (This function isn't well documented...)

Just test flew my Wii copter @ -6C/20F dead calm wind, Awesome! only tweaked my TX expo a little and it is very stable. Fingers gave out before the 2200Mah battery did.

Happy Thanksgiving

OK guys, I finally got my Tri-Wii wired and running (no flight yet).

However, the Wii+ gyro is reversed in pitch mode (elevator works correctly via stick)

How do I reverse the gyro for pitch?

Thanks

Tom

Tom,

Dumb question.... Do you have the wii board right side up and facing the correct direction?
(See Alex's picture and note the blue arrow and the top of the wii board.)

Mine was a dumb question, not yours!

Nope, my wii board IS upside down. Guess I thought it didn't matter and could be changed by software or TX.

Thanks Troy! I'll keep ya'll posted on progress.

Hold the bus guys!!!

I am confizzeled capts post above (#92) shows the wii board mounted upside down. He says it flys fine...

Another question....I am thinking about leaving the plug attached to the board like capt did. I noticed that two of the pins on the underside are actually soldered together. Far right pegs in pic.

Could someone tell me if this going to be an issue? I see most of the setups dont have solder between the two

Mike,

The white plug side of the Wii must be face down and oriented in the same direction as Alex has in his diagram. You can visually test through the Wii GUI by holding and moving the wii in your hand. Pitch, Roll, Yaw. Capt is going to have to respond on how he got his to work that way... Who knows, I could be completely wrong...

These are the only wires that you need to know about when building a Tricopter config. (Black & Blue are both grounds...)

GRAY (Sometimes Brown) - GOES TO PIN D12
RED - GOES TO PIN A5
WHITE - (Sometimes Orange)
YELLOW
GREEN - GOES TO PIN A4
BLUE - GOES TO GROUND

BLACK

Here is the wiring from the Arduino pins to your Receiver:

Pin 2 goes to CH 3 on the receiver
Pin 4 goes to CH 1 on the receiver
Pin 5 goes to CH 2 on the receiver
Pin 6 goes to CH 4 on the receiver

I had to reverse a channel (roll I think), I was to lazy to undo everything and flip it after we relized it was backwards.

Will probably fix it after I get my WMP clone board.

barok,

Any 4 ch radio can be used as it sets up as ACRO. Alex's Wii sketch does all the mixing, etc.... And his Wii GUI is where you can make your adjustments. http://radio-commande.com/internatio...copter-design/
