You guys are an inspiration :-) I was so impressed with signguys Wii micro-tri flight I've ordered all the arduino kit, just need to get WM+ and NK.
from what I'm seeing the Wii versions are more stable than conventional Tri's and T's
Some great flying skills signguy, loved the go-pro flight and impressive catch, it all looked so effortless. Lets hope my build goes equally well.

Few questions-

First- is the sparkfun website down?

Okay. So, how important is it to buy the Nintendo version of the M+ adapter? Are the clone ones not as good?

Also, I'm confused with the nunchuck. Some use it, some don't?

Thanks!

Kmart,

Clones shouldn't be an issue at all.

Hmm, okay. Think I'll try and find a real one, just in case. Not that much more either.

Thanks!

For those looking for WM+ and nunchucks, go to www.crazedlist.com and search for Wii Motion Plus in your area (or further). After about 10 text messages, I found a guy in AZ who will sell me a slightly used WM+ and a Nunchuck for $10 shipped.

So, I mounted the Canon A640 on this afternoon after installing CHDK and the Ultra Intervalometer Script: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC/Sc...Intervalometer

It flew great! I do need to tweak the CG just a hair by moving the battery a little forward from where it was in the video.

Flying the Canon A640 running CHDK (3 min 2 sec)

Can you please clarify ref gyros.

The conventional tri builds use three (one per motor axis) plus a yaw gyro yes?

This wii device, that deals with the three axis I'm guessing? Is there still a yaw gyro then?

Sorry but I'm getting overwhelmed by the information flying around. Trying hard torrid and learn but getting very confused sometimes!

Brilliant project though! Thanks to you and everyone else for sharing your info.

Hi Rick,

The bottom line is that the little Wii Motion Plus board, along with the Arduino, takes care of everything. (No more 401B's and Heli programing in your TX) Have a look at this for a better technical explanation of the Wii board.

Thanks for that Tim - think the next stage is just to start building and then get support when I need it!

WM+ on the KK - board

Hello,

I used the WM+ on the KK - board, and here are the results:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=7266

I maiden-ed my X-quad XX firmware v1.0. and I am disappointed.
The WM+ sensitivity is really huge, I had to put the gain pots really low!
(WM+: not even 2/10th compared to the HK401 : 5/10th!)

Since the KK software is mixing stick authority with the gyro authority, this resulted in a really low stick authority!

Yaw is so slow!

HOW COULD WE MAKE THE WM+, behave more as the HK401?
I changed the R10 to 220-Ohm to get a Vref of 2.516 Volts.

It would be sad if no solution is found, since the WM+ installation is so easy and cost effective!

For me this is "un-flyable".

I can't answer that as I'm not familiar with the KK board and it's software.

Genuine question - without having to read hundreds of pages on the KK thread - What does the KK controller board/setup allow you to do that this type of build won't?

You've got it going with WMP gyros so I'm guessing they are very similar now in performance?

Would there be any advantage in a KK WMP build over this build? (not that I'm going to - just asking)

thanks!
