Picked this bird up 2nd hand, came with a nano tech 4S 2650 I think, but I mainly fly 4S 2200's in my birds, or paired up 1800's in parallel. I see some have flown this with 4S 2200, any advice if I go that route?

Your battery will probably be more forward in the box to get the balance right but I think 2200s work great in this plane. I fly about 5 minutes with them.

if your going with 2200mah make sure they are high discharge "c" rating from 45c and up. im getting 5 minuts from nano 2650 so im not sure if 2200 are good for this bird

They are 40C sky lipos... I guess I'll have to try and see, maybe I'll set timer for like 4:30 and then see how much goes back in...

I land at 4:30 with my 2800 and 3000 ma batteries and normally put around 2000-2200 back in. So be careful with 4:30 with the 2200's. In our area the Carbon Z is noted for just shutting down without warning on low voltage. I've seen 2 totalled because of this.

My timer is also set to 4:30 mins using 3000 mah 30c batteries.
Packs usually have around 20% left in them after flying mixed throttle.

I've been reading quite a lot on this thread about the Yak but do have a question on the Lipo's.

Would the below lipo be a good option? I'm living in the Netherlands so would like to order at Hobbyking EU warehouse:

any other suggestions are welcome

Why that battery when the 3000 or 3300 nanotech is less money?

The Nanotechs are not available in Europe warehouse.
there is a 3000 mah zippy (see below) but isn't that one going to be to heavy?

I see most people talking arround the 2650 mah. If I go higher, will that not effect 3d flying?

Hmm ok I guess I need bigger batteries then! Odd that some people report success with 2200's! From what you are saying, I wouldn't push a 2200 more than 3 minutes or so...

Depends on how you fly, if you have lead fingers you'll need a big lipo. If you cruise around a 2200 will work. I use a 2650mah for my 3s yak, 2950mah for my 4s yak.

Bearings for eflite motor?

Need some bearings for the front of motor were it connects to eng mount. Anybody have a good source? Tried 13-4 apc and my entire motor plastic cone motor mount prop and all separated from airplane made safe landing but impact of motor from forty feet messed up the bearings. Thanks for help.

I picked up the Yak last week and its my new favorite plane.. I was a little worried after reading the reviews but this thing is solid. I was being stupid on the 2nd flight and managed to crash it. This crash would have totaled a balsa plane. I glued the tail back on and got a few more flights in before the sun went down, just on low rates hahaha
what'd ya do? (0 min 20 sec)

It's not a very good 3d plane, especially if you don't have 3d experience. I'd suggest a twisted hobbys crack yak or crack Pitts for a hardcore 3d trainer. The yak 54 can do 3d stuff but it's not easy, the profile 3d foamies are your best bet. I fly mine 10 times more than the yak 54, stick time is your friend!
