If you watch his video on page 169 you will see the differences of the CS12 combo. The stock unit is not bad but there is a noticeable difference in V8's video.
yes im running a lower kv motor 1500kv flyfly outrunner which is balanced myself. It provides similar amp draw as the stock setup but 1:1 thrust. 1600kv xflight combo is a more powerful setup but at a higher amp draw. So I was happy with my 1500kv setup. I've heard the xflight combo is balanced but not sure how good, make sure you check it 1st.

1600kv hobbytopgun inrunner im using with cs12 (not the xflight combo) is 92a static vs 76-78a static on the 1500kv.

Hopefully my ice 100 is up to the task. I changed my mind because I didn't want the extra weight of the receiver battery and want to keep my 120hv with my 8s set up.

My x-flight settles in the low to mid 90s on a fresh batt, but either the setup or my meter shows a spike if you goose it on a fresh bat (it has recorded a 102A peak). Hobbywing Platinum Pro 100A ESC and I fly with throttle management. I've never been a full-time full-throttle type.

ya use the same HW platinum pro 100a esc on my 1600kv on my euro and its fine. Inflight those static 90a reads drop.

Okay: Thanks guys for all your help. I did the inverted test flight and ended up moving the battery back towards CG by about 1 3/4". Seemed to help with the rotation on takeoff. I will adjust the elevator to be 1/4" below fuse seam line tomorrow at the field.
Thank you for the link to xflight. I ordered the 1600kv 12 blade fan. I am assuming I cannot use my 85amp ESC that came in the jet? What should I get...100Amp? ( I'm running 6s 3700 and 4200mAh 65C and 35C respectively.)

I bought a castle ice 100 and I think it will be fine. I was shocked at how fast my fan/motor shipped. One hour after ordering and I already had a tracking number.

I can't think of a better combo of plane and power plant in all my years of flying. The Freewing F/A-18 and the CS12 Blade/1600. A match made in heaven at a fantastic price.

Yes indeed, a Castle 100A is the final touch.

The Hobbywing Platinum Pro 100 is a good match too, and a little cheaper. 150A burst so you have plenty of headroom. I have almost all Hobbywing stuff in my planes (Platinum Pro ESCs and HV UBECs) at this point and haven't had a single failure.

I have the castle 100 lite, how does the hobby wing compare? Is there really any difference? The Hw looks alot bigger. Is it reliable?

Performed ESC surgery today and they tried to deliver my fan but I failed to hear the doorbell lol. I did get the esc so I got everything soldered and tested it on the stock unit. Redelivery on Monday and I will be set. Weather tomorrow is supposed to suck so at least I'll never have to fly it on stock again
