Thanks Martin I'm not aiming for mega power to begine with, just around the 2kW level will do for now. I do have two fuselages though, so fuselage mk 2 is going for big power

That spinner looks the business! Are they avialble to buy? I was thinking about the spinner/yoke to use on my build, and as I seen the aeronaut ones fail in the past, I am about halfway through designing my own yoke. It looks quite similar to the one posted above actually, so if they are commercially available, I may just abandon the idea of my own design, and buy off the shelf instead.

Cheers
Andy

Andy, spinner will be available shortly. It passed 3kW test and is waiting for the next one (5kW). So far so good and it matches Dalibor's Viking Race perfectly

Attached you can find the log from Dalibor's flight two days ago. With a "little" help of Sky Assistant he was able to enjoy semi strong thermals with his Viking E Race at -4 C degrees.

And that lovely foamie has been seen in Jiri Sodomka's workshop. When he needs a break from Vikings' production he takes her out and has some serious fun in the backyard ;-)

Martin, the RFM 17*13 prop is to be used only for up to around 4kW (input from Rudi F. himself). Don't risk 5kW with this prop, especially if it is just to just test the spinner.
Could a video be taken nonetheless ?

I may want one to but it might not be for Viking and certainly not RFM 17x13 but more like RFM 15x16.

"Golden finger"

Viking needs cooling .
Especially, when I changed regular ICE 100 to lite,in order to balance plane.
Let's make a 3-D cooling holes,or "cool" cooling holes.

1.make a template and trace it to the fuse.
2.cut the holes in the fuse using dremel.it is good to put a tape over the fuse
while tracing and cutting.
3.cut servocovers /$10 a pair/they will be the ducts of the cooling holes.
4.mix epoxy with thickening agent ,epoxy with agent fills cavities and curves better and most important, duct will stay in the place.
5.make a loop out of masking tape and glue it to one of Your finger, one ,which You usually show to Your wife, when she can't see You.
6.put a duct on that loop and make a bid of epoxy ,just on the edge.
7.take tape of the finger and balance a duct on it,try to imagine ,You are
a doctor doing a "digital finger" exam.
8.HOLD YOUR BREATH !!!.....well it is another doctor usually says.
9.SLOWLY insert Your finger through the canopy position duct and press gently on the place,SLOWLY releise Your finger.
10.BREATHE.
11.same prosidure for the other duct.Make sure everything is aligned right.
12.hand the fuse upside down and let it dry.You may add an epoxy from inside ,if there is any holes or simple to reinforce the structure.
Chill out now.
Yuri.

P.S. PM me FOR COLOR OF YOUR CHOICE SET OF SEVOCOVERS AND TEMPLATE/$13 SHIPPED USA PAYPAL/if You wanna play the doctor.

Thank you for your warning Proto, for 5kW+ Dalibor will use JS props only.

Time to share.

I built a carbon coffin from UHM carbon tow, 0-90, light stiff and ugly. This carries rx and life-04 ballast in tail. Will drill the fuse and screw this in. Npo tray in the front, just a PITA connector end. You want to use brass only on these, because if not perfectly in line with the mpx, it will get stuck... at least brass is soft enough to bend by hand, but still otherwise. I gooped in these fancy shiny carbon skins to conceal the wires. In the photo I now realize not perfectly straight... oh well Up front is a mini pcb board I built. All good ideas were from Dalibor, all bad ideas were mine.

Vespa, you deservo the most credit for pointing out that insanely sticky and difficult to work with 3m adhesive. Stuff is awesome, but if you get a touch on your fingers, you are $crewed... even acetone doesn't help all that much. My cat got a toucj on her back a week ago, and it's still on there

The pcb up front will balance charge the lifepo4 in the back. Battery back is handmade butchered hyperion 45c 2200. I am more excited to see Joe's plane than my own... these cells are too small, I WISH I had courage to run higher cell count, but I am too chicken
