I have the 4S version of the EDF unit..... it was in a Starmax F-18
I would consider that a fairly similar plane to the T-45.... close enough for a reference.
The F-18 was pretty lack lustre..... it would be chalk and cheese to what that BL32 combo would be!!!

Usually a 3S version of the same units are lower power. There are quite a few that do that sort of thing, 3S and 4S versions.
So it does not sound likely that it would be much fun..... I think it would still fly though! Just very sluggish.

I am guessing you mention that EDF unit because it is cheap? And/or that you have 3S 2200's already, but not larger, or any 4S etc?

You really want to go at least 4S to be efficient and have good power.
You could not link your 3S's to be 6S either as they will most likely be too low power rated batteries anyway I expect.

Here is something reasonably cheap, but a good unit (Lander parts/made really).
It can run on your 3S batteries, paired up in parallel.

thanks Peter for the info... I have a Turnigy plus 60amp esc that I can use.... and the castle fan you recommended is just what I think I could be happier with... I can run either my 3s or upgrade to 4s for that fan... much thanks... joeg

It can be fun to have faster planes! But also costs more!
Everything costs more... and wears more....
But that is what it costs to have that more powerful result... and it is not a linear power gain per $ either!

I tried a 4S CS10 (2800kv)and did not like that..... Amps draw and thrust result.
So I am back to the old tried and true $30 total cost L2855-2300kv 5S CS10..... 900W, and that is also easily supplied from cheap batteries, seeing the power comes more from Volts not Amps as in 4S.
But this combo means a dedicated decision as it ONLY will run on 5S. I consider that fine as it is a super bargain price for a great result!

lol in all seriousness i have run it before, and might put another together soon since I have a few spares still lying around. If memory serves last time I bench tested this I got closer to 1000watts.

Still good value on 4S even, but for the same combo cost on 5S and less battery stress that is the winner of those two.
Great 'medium' power (800W to 900W) for $30 all up!

My next best value choice above that is the Lander Alloy 10blade 2960-2200kv for 6S... which can also be run on 5S for that lower 800w-900w area. But it is $72 and weighs a LOT more.... thus still can't touch the L2855 combos in cost and weight if used for 5S.
Otherwise the CyclonePower 10blade IR550-2200-40 combo from RC castle (which is the Lander 10 blade rotor used in that too) for $74.... lighter than the Lander Alloy but the same power result.

The BL32 way is sort of the 'Mercedes' combo as that is a tough motor (physically much the same as the two above anyway) with an extra plus of its nice robust 5mm shaft, but it is a bit lower KV (thus less power than 2200kv). It is $75 just for the motor, and then needs the 5mm shaft adaptor and fan stuff (ERC or Tamjets... $15 or more each)..... but it is very robust and pretty well bullet-proof. Sort of a luxury end combo. hehe
I almost bought a BL32 to try... but can't quite justify the total extra cost of it versus those others.

You can't really compare the 2300kv L2855 CS10 and Lander 10blade 2200. They are both totally different animals. One makes roughly double the thrust of the other, and is pretty much the most powerful off the shelf 70mm EDF you can buy. If you're talking value, that makes it unsurpassed in that segment.

I said for 800w-900w the L2855 is the best value
The Lander on 5S also only does 800w-900w... so its potential is unused and useless then anyway. You would pay more for nothing. Its 2200kv lowers its output and the L2855 then beats it too.

Then I said the next level UP is the Lander or CP, both to be run on 6S of course then... for 1200w-1300w.... and the higher cost and weight of those too.
But you can run those on 5S if you want.... to have the ability to throw in 6S in the future too then.

Mind you, the L2855-2100kv on 6S will almost match a Lander/CP too...... but wont last very long doing that!

OK... now I've got some choices as to what fan...but the L2855 seems most appropriate... however isn't this a 70mm fan unit? I think most of your advice is for a 70mm fan... and not the 64 fans.. correct me if I'm wrong...
Posted some pics of my rudder setup... the horns have a really adverse angle of attack to the servo throws... I'm always fearing that I'll snap a horn or clevis arm...the ball joints give the most flexibility and easy to fit up... did a little modification to the single servo point hookup.. but fitting a ball link and then I will epoxy it all together. the servo is not final fitted yet in the pics... just put it there to show how it will all hook up....

VERY hard to beat one of Don's tried & trued Wicked4000 plus motors in a 64mm fan. He can dynamically balance it for you and they run sooooo smooth afterwards.

Small, lightweight & heaps of power on 4s 2200-2600mah lipos...

But if you want perfection, those few places/guys that do it can get it working best.. for that cost.

I know the Bl32 setup is a bit more expensive, but I think that the time you have spent on the look of your plane why not treat it to a set up that is going to sound a lot more scale. I personally don't like the sound of screaming EDFs. I am not telling you what to do but like Peter said the BL32 is bullet proof and will last you for many more planes to come. Just my thoughts as if you look at mrdisho on YouTube he has used this set up for loads of different models.

The BL32 setup is no doubt awesome, but if you have no other plane using 6s lipos it becomes a bigger investment/expense...

I can see how the 3 cell runs... and bump up to 4 cell also... my 60amp esc shouldn't have to be changed... plus the rated thrust/watts on this unit is much better than the current one I have in the plane... already took out my fan... and waiting to install the new one... when it gets here... thanks joeg
