Would like to see how you'll deal with the thin wings and scale retracts issue. Only retracts I can think of that might fit are the SAPAC SZ180 retracts, but I'm interested to see what you come up with. I'll be watching your progress. Looks like a really cool project.

Fitting the mains will be not perfectly scale due to the thin wing. If you look at the pic below you will notice how there is a bulge under the fuse where the main wheels sit. Since the HK DSR retracts we are using are too deep for the wing I was planning on extending the bulge so that it surrounds the whole gear installation. It will probably end up being a 1 piece fibreglass wheel well and aerodynamic bulge. Once the nose gear is finished I will start on the mains.

In the meantime I have ordered an extra kit This will be the finished product. The hawk I have now will be the test bed. Hopefully it should be ready to maiden in a week or two.

Can't wait to test the 6s fan

Help to all t-45 maters

Hello guys,
i am new to edf(from heli) and i found this HK t-45 is suitable for beginner like me. Since i have electronics from my heli i decided to buy only the kit version. I don't need it to be very fast, i just want to see how it flies. I bought it all from hobbyking..

My setup are the ff:
MOTOR
SPEED CONTROLLER
68MM FAN
2450mAh 3S1P 30C BAT

my ESC has an external HXT UBEC 5/6v output, 5.5~23v Input installed

Is my setup can fly this plane?

Please let me know your thoughts..

Regards,
dhonwyn

It should work fine ... not sure you can stick the heli motor on the EDF unit, but if you can ... the power is enough for make it fly ok ... nothing super fast, but decent

Tchuss

It's amazing to watch you guys - you seem to be flying in the middle of the suburbs... The field I fly at usually is 10km from the outskirts of town!

- we are!

Luckily, the grassed area of the Basketball Stadium falls into the Industrial Zone so all the neighbours can't whine about any noise we might make. We do try to not fly screamers first thing though and when we have crashed into a back yard or two, the householders have always been understanding and joined in the giggles at seeing the foam carnage that once was a plane lying in their yard.

Strike, just converted the video to lower format and it now looks good but did shut down early. You're hawk popped into frame many times and for a fair few seconds. Looked good.

Jim - will do.

Clearly if you want the hawks to fly formation, just tie them together with a bit of fishing line and delete it in post processing!

Strike3 probably has enough thrust onboard to make that happen
