Hi!

Just got the T-45 as my first EDF!

I've reglued almost everything and did the dual ailerons and the rudder mod.
Some of you have reattached ailerons with fiber tape. Does the tape need any glue or is the glue in the tape strong enough? I've never used any.

Any other must or strongly advised mods?

PS. Stock ESC already discarded!

Thanks!

conditions were perfect tonight to test out my 4s 40c 3000mah batteries and what a difference over the 3s setup. noticeably faster now :-)

underarm launches were successful, which is nice after my last attempt at a overhead launch ended in a nose plant :-)

4.30min flight time with a little throttle management

i'm going to need to stock up on some more packs as the time sure goes fast.

my 4s 3000 and 5s 3000 arrived today!
i've worked out the battery locations for correct CG and plan to fly on the weekend

of course the 5s will be a burst only affair - medium throttle for most of the flight... will see how she flys when we get there.

Mine rocks with the 2w20, running the 4S 3000 40C right now and it screams. I would love to try the 5S though.

I think i've over glued my HK T-45

I weighed it last night RTF with no battery: 768 grams
mods are;
  • rudder servo (9 gram servo)
  • solid balsa horiz. stabs
  • 70amp ESC
  • depron intake ducting
  • no landing gear, no servo for nosewheel
  • toothpicks, glue + a couple bamboo skewers holding the canopy after a prang
AUW on HK's listing is down as "620 grams"
conclusion: hotmelt glue is heavy.

Well i did a little test run up last night, the 465gram 5s 3000 reaches 1:1 at about 2/3rd throttle so that's 1.23kg of thrust from my 5 blade fan and stock 4800kv black tornado motor.

any votes for buying a new kit to use a lighter body and have a spare wing?

Then Ill shut my mouth.

Would be great if HK bought the moulds, the T45 has to be one fo the best/easiest flying, best/easiest modding planes going around.

I would hate to lose the ability to buy it. Hmm might have to buy a spare airframe just in case.

By the time you add cost of shipping to the airframe you could buy the pnf from the aus store for $10 more
