Century new Jet Ranger .30/550 size

Saw this at Century website, "coming soon" with no detail listed. Searched eBay, I found this.

http://www.centuryheli.com/products/...?currentid=721

The old version did not have front battery access. I asked eBay seller for detail, his reply was "no landing skids, fits Swift 16". I believe the first not the second comment.

Please post any info you can gather.

Very nice! I like the way the new version footwell windows are actually there and not stickers . Profile looks right from what I can tell so far too!

I think it just made the very short list of new models to build

Yet, it is an unknown to fit EP. Funkey also has a Long Ranger for gas and only for use with Century airframe.

May be more detail is forthcoming, and a free shipping + deal during the holiday season.

I got two Swift 16s, one uses analog and the other digital servos. I am ready to fit e-stab afterward. However, the two-blade FBL does quite well without. Or, should I say much better than the smaller 450.

...And I like this part Ready-fit? At any rate, I've been having a tough time embracing the 600 sizes...a nice T550 Jet Ranger sounds good

I'd say the Swift will only require a higher former stand. IF the dog house and the higher head will not affect the "look". JetRanger full scale rotor head is high up anyway. Don't know, time will tell. Besides, 550 vs 600mm blades doesn't make that big a difference.

Wrong side tail with no easy fix looks to be the only distraction.

Get a plain one without paint, make yourself a new tail cone.

Fuse itself is shaped for the tailfin mounting...would be kind of hard. I dont want to paint either Nice paint job on that for sure...did a bit of pricing out a FBL T550, using some electronics I already have (SK360, GP750), not scared off yet. Only thing is the T550 FBL head doesnt seem to be good for a 'raised' main rotor as the swash driver arms are basically attached to the headblock it seems from the pics I saw so far...more planning needed on that aspect

If he could do it, you sure can.
It's a 50 size but he turned the rotor to the right side.

Ah, cut the fin flat out for the tail...might make for some good room for the tail mechanism. Yeah, I guess then hang the tail fin over the existing hole...or patch and colormatch. Gotta see if I can figure out a 2 blade head plan with a seperate swash driver so just main shaft and head block/grips are visible.

I'm quite satisfied with mine.

Now when I double check the size of .50 versus .30, I am surprised there is 11" difference in length. 0.50 length = 50" 0.30 length = 39", may be the 0.50 can go 660mm blades.

Looks good. I gotta do some research for sure on which brand's 10mm main shaft is longest...dont have an ability to drill a hardened shaft to home-make one in the needed length.

Lots of stuff to figure out...maybe by Spring?

Did a bit more in-depth checking...the T550 swash driver is a seperate unit after all. But longer shafts might be well out of my realm as the stock main shaft appears to be stepped for the one-way on that model. So no drill-rod home made shafts for me it would seem. Now I've been looking at the proportions of the T550 in the manual, and the fuselage, along with the 1:1 version. Well, it wont be near-scale when it comes to main shaft appearances, but maybe the main rotor will be high enough? I dunno.

I'll say this, that new V2 sure looks to be a nice improvement over the previous .30 Jet Ranger to my eye, very tempting. Gotta love those Jet Rangers...Almost as ubiquitous as the UH1 making it a favorite to get in model form. Now when will they start selling at Century in the USA?

Heliworld's got them in stock now...

Unpainted for $140.00...

That and a T550 FBL to make something like this...

Ideas, Ideas!

Sidney, do you recall what sort of Black Friday sales Heliworld had last year? Do you think it might be worth waiting until then?

Free shipping if I recall correctly. However, I just found out it might not work with Swift 16. V2 is larger according to Copter Doctor at RR, I noticed it is built for Hawk Pro. Not sure, but I know some find fit Swift 16 inside one of these.

I prefer unpainted; matching color from factory painted fuse is PITA.
