Help!
Lost my flying site (Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx NY)

Hello Guys, After almost 10 years of flying in Van Cortlandt park in the Bronx, I was told that we cannot fly there anymore. The park ranger said there was an accident there last week but I can't find any info on it and none of the other guys who regularly fly there know what happened either. Anyways, Is there anyone else in the lower westchester area that can point me to an area where flying is allowed. I fly only electric models. I have a couple 70mm ducted fan jets on 3S and a couple prop planes on BP-21 motors and 3S also. I fly FPV. I remember seeing airplanes flying by the Palisade mall in Nyack but I can't find any info on a club there.

Thanks

Hey new to the site, but driving up on 95N between Co-op city and New Rochelle exits I always see planes but have never gotten off to see where they are located. Maybe try the r/c group over in Whitestone theater parking lot for nfo also

That sounds like around the Orchard Beach area. How long ago was that? I heard no flying is allowed there anymore.

Except for control line flying in Flushing Meadow Park (Queens) and RC flying in Floyd Benett Field (Brooklyn), any type of RC operation, whether cars, boats, planes or helis is prohibited in all NYC parks. However, if you choose to fly early in the morning or late in the day, when the park is mostly empty, you can get away with flying with no hassles. Usually other flyers are our worst enemy. They will do something inconsiderate or dangerous and everyone gats banned. Wait a while (from several weeks to a couple of months) to allow tempers to cool down and you can usually resume flying.

I've been flying at two NYC parks in Queens for the past 15 years. At Kissena Park we have been banned at least a dozen times, but after a while the parkies get tired of watching out for us and we resume flying. At Clearview & 73Ave we have never been banned.
