another new twin

IF I had not got three (3) of the Dyman Grand Cruiser airframes already

I would be ordering two (2) of these --> http://www.nitroplanes.com/421scrcaitws.html

421 Scale RC Aircraft Twin-Engine Sky Trainer 46 - 71" Nitro/Electric Powered Remote Control Airplane ARF

It's really more the size I wanted BUT - Oh well

Guys weigh your Grand Cruiser's please - I would like to get a upper range that I have to work with - I am still worried I will need a bigger plane for my 30 minute fly time FPV set up.

Thanks in advance for your help

I'm afraid your never going to be able to achieve your goals of 30 min flight time and FPV with this plane.

Cruiser consumes about 200 mah per min in mixed flight. This would require more than a 6000 mah battery for 30 min. Two 3000 mah 3s would weigh about 21.5 oz and take up lots of space. There's no way this plane can accomodate them, nor fly with the additional 1.33 lbs of weight.

Something like this would stand a chance of fulfilling your requirements:

http://www.nitroplanes.com/90a268.html

Massive wing area and very light wing loading. I've got one and can tell that it would be able to lift lots of extra weight with no sweat.

30 minutes of powered electric flight (other than a glider) is difficult to achieve and will require a very light plane with a high lift wing and lots of wing area. The bigger scale twin that you're looking at is not really a very good candidate, either.

4A UBEC w/ Low Voltage horn

It can handle 4amp draw and comes with a low voltage warning buzzer. Should your pack drop to below 3V per cell the buzzer will sound, telling you its time to land your plane before you kill your expensive Lipo pack.

The UBEC comes with an extended section of PCB, you can use this to help mount the UBEC or you can simply cut it off.

Although this is a UBEC and can handle up to 23v, its warning system is only designed for 2cell. Some would consider using a UBEC for 2cell as overkill, however it ensures a stable current, less heat and a higher amperage can be used.

This UBEC can be used with up to 23v input. If you use a 2 cell pack only, it will also warn you if your cells drop to 3v per cell.

I just finished installing the E-flite retracts on the Cessna. Now I can't stop doing touch and go's. The plane's flying behavior did not change much as far as I can tell. Here is a video my good friend Don took yesterday at RSA.

Opened the C-310 yesterday. The foam on this plane feels so slick. Does it need to be cleaned with something like alcohol before applying the decals? What about gluing? I know epoxy works on this foam, will RC-56 canopy glue work? Any special prep first? (
The fuselage arrived with the windshield caved in, so I had to remove it to get it straightened out. Now I have to get rid of the rubber cement and reattach the windshield.)

Roger

The glue that comes with it works great! I have to agree, the foam is really nice and smooth. They did a nice job on it.

On a Holiday note,

Santa gave me a battery for Christmas so im now up to 4 for the 310!!!

I ran it couple of days now with skis. What a riot!
I like this plane more and more.
I will try it tomorrow with 1 pusher and 1 tractor prop. Right now with 2 tractors it will bank on take off. I would like to see it take off on 50% power, gentle climb and no aileron or rudder input.
