A simple quiz on religious knowledge

Take the quiz, (its only 15 questions) and then see how you compare to other Americans. The last page has all kinds of cool ways to see how you did, including one that brakes down the results by religious affiliation and gender.

Pretty interesting that the atheists and agnostics seem to be the most knowledgeable, except for questions that appear to be specific to a particular religion.

The site is slower than treacle, but I got through eventually.

You answered 15 out of 15 questions correctly
for a score of 100%.

but I'm an atheist, so what do I *really* know?

You've at least heard of the Great Awakening, so that's something good.

Thanks. The stats make for interesting reading, do they not? What do you say about their findings?

Site was so slow I gave up. I'll try later, maybe it'll be working better.

I think it likely that many churchgoers are ignorant of those subjects, especially of foreign religions.

Yes of course, but the question that naturally follows is *why* are many churchgoers ignorant of their own and others religions?

Do they lack curiosity about their own and other religions, and of the world in general? Why is it that the more educated one is the more likely one is to learn and know more about their faith and that of others? And why is it that the more one learns, the less one is likely to believe that there is a god or gods as described in the Bible, or Koran or Bhagavad Gita or Popol Vuh?

No atheist or agnostic that I know are non-believers out of ignorance - this test shows that they tend to be very well versed in various religions and their doctrines. As was stated earlier, it also demonstrates that many churchgoers do tend to be ignorant of their own religion and that of others.

This is not a coincidence.

Great Awakening? Missed that one, guess I'll look it up. Overall stats are pathetic. I got 14 out of 15 and I'm a Reform ELCA Lutheran (atheist)!
