Help I can't see my plane any more!
LSF Level V 2 hr. thermal.
I set out to go for a thermal flight today. It was a nice day to do this flight with a target time of 2 Hrs. This was the third day out for this flight to happen. Well the hard part came at 48 min. into the flight. The plane was real low (about 200') popped something over a tree that one of the spotters hooked into. Took it for a ride out for about 2000'. A 3M airplane that high is the hardest this to keep your eyes on. It was time to do something that I don't do very much is ask for help. I CAN'T SEE MY PLANE!!!!!!!!!!! It was up SOOOOOO HIGH down wind that I could only see the flash when it turned. A spotter said point the nose up wind and come back. The only thing was that I hit lift all the way back. OK now it is under control back over the field. It was getting later in the day when the wind comes up but it was still HOT! Flying down wind help you to see were the lift is going. The time was running down with 25 min. to go. Had to find one more big bummer. The wind turned to the south so I turned into it and all I could hear was the sniffer going off BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP! A few min. later my timer said you only need ten min. more to go! Now thats what I wanted to here. The big thing DON'T LAND SHORT ON TIME! The plane was still high and it was time to come home. The 2 hr. buzzer went off and the plane was still at a 1000' or better. I put the spoilers out to bring it home at a slow speed straight in for a landing. It's OVER a lot of hard work and some help from friends total flight time 2 hr. 01 min. 36 seconds .
Thanks to all the people that helped at the SWSA field.

Yes it's like a life time ago that I did that! One thing about a two hour flight down wind. You get to learn a lot about thermals and what they do as they pass by you. If anyone is going to try this "BRING FRIENDS"~!
Let's go FLY, Fishing!
