Turnigy 9X receiver setup

Hey guys, I'm new to the rc heli world and need some help connecting all components to the rx and setting up the tx. Not sure what channels go to what servo and which port is for the gyro adjustment along with where the esc plugs to.

The Turnigy uses the same function sequence as Futaba:
1. Aileron
2. Elevator
3. Throttle
4. Rudder
5. Gear (Gyro)
6. Aux1 (Pitch)
7. Aux2
8. Aux3
For a CCPM helicopter, the swash servos use channels 1, 2 and 6.

Nothing goes in the battery port (except the bind plug when needed) because you aren't using a receiver battery. You are using the ESC to provide the power and it has to go into the throttle slot so it can get the necessary signal. All slots are wired in parallel as far as +ve and Ground pins are concerned.

Hi,
i bought Turnigy 9x v2 mode1.
i converted it to mode2, mechanical and software, from the menu, as explained in many online videos.
the problem i have, i want to know if anybody else have it, is that i'm connecting the ESC to channel 3, as explained in this forum, and looks that is correct. BUT the stick that moves the channel 3 is the left horizontal instead of the left vertical. it is crossed with the channel 4, that is moved by the left vertical.
does anyone else has the same problem?
do you know how to fix it in an easy way?
thanks a lot

First thing to recognize is that this is not about the receiver but the transmitter. So till you have the transmitter problem solved, don't even turn the receiver on. Use the display screen (sometimes called monitor) to find out what the transmitter is doing.

Second thing is to distinguish clearly between channel order and mode. Since you are apparently using the stock firmware in the 9x, which has fixed channel order, that takes one thing out of the puzzle. The channel order for the stock firmware is:
CH1 Aileron
CH2 Elevator
CH3 Throttle
CH4 Rudder

Third, the stock firmware contains several confusing typographical errors. What it calls "mode" is actually model number. Stick mode is really set on a screen called Stick which shows the two sticks as circles with a cross inside. Beside the two circles are listed "Model1", "Model2", etc. Confusing! So choose "Model2".

Now go to the Display screen where you will see a bar for each channel. Move the sticks and note which one controls what. You should see the left stick vertically moving channel 3 and horizontally channel 4.

If you do, then it's working correctly and you can go ahead and hook up the receiver.

If you see channels 3 (throttle) and 4 (rudder) interchanged, something funny is going on (such as a wiring error) and you should come back here for further discussion. There is no stick mode that swaps horizontal and vertical stick outputs.

Good luck. By the way, I'm doing this from memory and with the confusing and error-filled FlySky manual. But I do have a 9x with stock firmware somewhere, so can check the real thing if necessary.

EDITH: if I'm guessing wrong and you have upgraded to Er9x or OpenTX firmware, the story is entirely different.

Hi Daedalus66,
many thanks for your response. your memory is ok, i was able to reproduce all your 'tests'.
first: i have the default firmware it called v2.
I changed to mode2, and you are right it still say mode 1, but i know it's just a typo or error.
when using mode1 everything works perfect, the sticks move the desired in the display and also in the receiver as you described.
when changing to mode2, the left stick is inverted between the vertical and horizontal.
when looking in the display the horizontal moves the 'throttle' and also CH3 in the receiver.
the strange thing is that the offsets works as expected, meaning that the vertical is the throttle.
as an exercise and as an explanation, if i would open the transmitter and swap between the two potentiometers, vertical and horizontal, so everything would be fine: sticks, display, receiver and offsets.

hope there is a simple way to fix it.
looking forward for your help!
