Lol thanks it is the same user name I use on a few different online games. Yeah I was in the hobby a long time ago (mostly cars though). Did fly a few times but things have changed so much that it is like starting all over again. Hmmm youngster? Well I guess to some, hit 50 this year but still a mental teenager.

Awesome! That's a great plane. You'll be happy with it I'm sure. Good luck, and I hope you're flying soon.

I'm new too! I just started flying this Feb. I joined a club, and with a buddy box learned the basics..with help from club members and the hobby shop I chose a E-flite apprentice. This IS the best deal I could find. Everything for 289.00 plus tax.I have flown over 160 flights and quit counting...I crashed and repaired it [more than once]. I'm 64 years old and just getting started!! Your gonna love it..

You'll do fine! Just don't try to fly that suit of armor without enough power!

Here is what I have wound up with

Plane 1. Hobbico Aero Cruiser 3 channel Electric ready to fly with a spare battery.
Plane 2. Dynam J-3 Cub Electric, 4 channel RTF just need a charger for the battery.
Plane 3. Got this from a club member, he built it 7 years ago and it never left his basement. http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma0160.html
Plane is complete with all 5 servos, a K&B .45 and a pitts muffler. Just needs TX&RX

IneptCorpse, You're starting out pretty well, having found a good club and all. My first plane was the E-flite Apprentice, and I agree with Rawhide46 that's it's a good one. Taught myself to fly out at a big park, with multiple soccer fields, and also had the Phoenix simulator, and it all went great except for all those crashes. :-). The first flight was plenty sweaty, believe me.

I don't agree with the advice about 3-channel over 4 channel. The world is 4 channel, and might as well learn on that, rather than having to un-learn something when you move up to 4 channel. Airplanes have ailerons, rudders, elevators, so might as well learn with all those. Just my $ .02, of course. One guy I know is flying his 3-channel Super Cub LP and it seems to me he might as well be flying around the Apprentice. Much more fun, bigger, more capable, regular 4-channel, etc., etc. I know others disagree.

But good luck with those planes you got. You'll have fun!
