I along with about 39 of my closest friends, got to fly one on Saturday evening. Flies just as well as the R/E Radian, but the roll rate is a little better, and the flaps will really help put it down on a spot. The R/E Radian really will float in ground effect!

It was really windy Saturday evening, but thermalling speed looked to be about the same as the R/E bird.

For setup, the flaps and ailerons are on a Y cable, but there is still a slot left in the receiver, so I think it would be pretty easy to put each aileron on a separate channel and perform a little more advanced programming. The one I flew was bound to my 9303 transmitter, and the only extra mixes that we put in was a little flap to elevator compensation, and some aileron to rudder mixing because we didn't have any aileron differential (because of the Y harness).

Climb rate seemed just about as good as the R/E Radian, but you are hauling around just a little more weight (I suspect an ounce or so)

The other changes I did notice, is that there is a positive locking device for the wings, and the elevator has a different connector now.


I will be ordering up one for sure, just as soon as the minister of finances says that its ok!

Based on pricing, the PnP models, receiver ready models, are best for 72 MHz pilots or people who have plenty of batteries and chargers.

If you are a 2.4 pilot and wouldn't mind getting another battery and charger, the BnF is a better deal.

Same can be said for the original Radian. The RTF is a better deal for the 2.4 GHz pilot even if you throw the radio away.

IMHO I think Fred Midgett needs to give Parkzone some lessons on marketing. Some PZG's are needed. Note the comparison below. I want the Radian Pro....I NEED the Higher Plane productions video NOW. Marketing it's all that matters!!!

That's great! With regards to the chapter about thermals in the Radian manual, do you think there will be a write up somewhere tailored to the Radian Pro? For newbies like me? :-)

I've mainly been flying flat foamies and Ultra Micros but was interested in the Radian for some time and especially now with the pro.

My main question is how much wind will the Radian take and still fly relatively well and stable? Like to have something that I can fly with some wind unlik the foamies and UM that like none.

The Radian can definitely handle wind much better than flat foamies and UMs, simply due to it's large wing span. Also, by the nature of how you fly the Radian, it's not going to be in as much turbulence, because you typically fly it higher up, where the wind is "cleaner", because it's blowing undisturbed by buildings, trees, etc.

If the Radian Pro thermals as well as the Radian and can be flown with rudder only when it's really high up (like I fly my Radian) and it's dihedral is enough to keep the wings level automatically, I'll probably neglect my Radian. I could also see my Radian stay my calm condition sail plane and the Radian Pro be my windy day sail plane. I'll see!

Rudder only? Probably not.

As self leveling at the Radian? Probably not.

I would have to jump on this speculation bandwagon and agree completely. I don't think the Pro is going to level off like the Radian does due to the flatter wing. If they want the ailerons to have any authority, the self stabilization is going to be lacking. Again, having not flown one, we could be wrong, but I would think it will require a lot more input to keep level. I am anxious to see myself.
