Friedclutch,

Do you have the ambient temperature at flight time for your doppler analysis?

I think in any case you need throttle management. Just realize that a 28mm motor isn't great from heat dispersion so even with a heatsink 7s is still stressing the motor. Fortunately, the E-flite motor is inexpensive and e-flite over engineers all their products so you should be good to go any way you decide.
7S sounds fine except...who sells a good, reliable 7S pack? And how do I balance charge it? I could sew together a 3S and 4S pack and have separate balance plugs and charging ports, but it'd be a mess and some hacking of the wires.

That's simple. A series connector and get a 3s and 4s or a 5s and a 2s set of packs. Ideally they would be of the same capacity, C rating and manufacturer. You can then charge each pack separately. Or if you want to spend some money on a new charger, my Hyperion i1420 will charge any combination of 2 packs up to a 14s pack. Or you can buy a 7s pack, Revolectrix would be my first choice but there are more and more becoming available, like Zippy Compacts. Then again you'd need a charger that is capable of charging a 7s pack, like the Hyperion.

I have a question for the guys that have installed the Stumax 80mm unit what kind of speed do you get using a Stumax? I have the PNP 80mm with a Het 700-60-1735Kv motor. I'll be using an ice 100amp esc. I have several 4400mah 45c packs to make either a 6s or 7s packs other then that the rest of the Habu will be stock with retracts.

I never could get a Doppler on my 12s Stumax 80. It had some kind of strange whistle which threw off the readings. (This could have been my rebuilt intakes. Don't know)
I'd say a good bit faster than stock. But that's a guess. i never flew stock.
I was at 3K watts at 70 amps on 12S.

After getting the fan balanced how I wanted, it flew very well and sounded good.

Here's a couple passes that got filmed. One on maiden, and one after rebuild and rebalancing fan.

I guess it could be hard get get doppler on a quiet fan setup. so an onboard speed indicator or a radar gun would need to be used. I'm sure your setup is topping out better then a 2.5k watt setup what is your outlet diameter on the thrust tube?

Thanks for the input.

I had the thrust tube the same diameter as the fuses exit. Don't remember what that was. ???

Doppler temps

At the beginning of the video the camera man states at the ambient temp is 55 deg f. I should have the readings ready tonight.
