With the habu on its retracts on the ground , you can check your cg by pushing down on the tail, if it slowly settles on the front wheel , your on cg, hope this helps should be around 115mm.

This is with lipo in and rtf.

I started with 105, but kept having landing problems with insufficient elevator authority for flaring (unless I was completely on top of approach, etc.)

Then, following the net wisdom of this group, I moved it back to 110 and, now, 115mm and it made such a huge difference. Even the takeoff run (rough grass) is much shorter and no longer have the dreaded Habu-bounce on landing.

I just had to try this out, and sure enough, it works. Nice trick.

I started with my Cg back in the neighborhood of 115-116mm (based on this thread) and so far I haven't had much problem landing. I had to do the same with my Eflite F4 - on that plane I am well behind the Cg range. I do tend to run off the end of the runway sometimes so I'm experimenting with more flap travel to see if I can get it to slow down better.

If not, what are most using? I've heard the mc35, or hs-85mgs....

I've never used them, but you might compare them to the Hitecs we (and many others) use.

HS82mg for the rudder and nose wheel steering
HS85bb for everything esle.

They've been working fine in 5 Habu's, even at 160 mph.

My setup= het 700-68-1500kv jetfan 80 cc ice 120hv 2x 5s 4000mah lipos.Will this fan unit be able to cope with 10s? Or will i have to use an alloy fan unit?

I've run 12s

I just built that setup and I'm only pulling 98Amps at 3000watts on 10s. I'm not gonna fly it on 12s but 11s will be a regular thing with that motor. Unfortunately, my ESC died while taxiing out last week so it's in the process of being replaced and then I'll have some numbers on 11s. The Jetfan isn't rated for that much thrust but it will be fine IMHO. If you decide to go all alloy you'll need a motor with an 8mm shaft as I read Gary doesn't have adapters for 5mm.

The Mach 80mm EDF uses a 5mm collet.

That is very good to know! I could have sworn I read a post by you about a month ago stating that the Mach Alloy was a high end solution only for 8mm motors and I decided to go Jetfan again because I already had the motor. Glad I was wrong!

That was concerning the 90mm EDF. We've had requests for 5 mm collet for that fan, and they are now available.
Now hat they are in stock, I'll generate two versions of the 90mm EDF. One with 5mm and one with 8mm,
