Maybe the true speed of Gary's jet is over 162 MPH.

4-5 pages back Gary reported 28mm 16/45 at 159 MPH...I assume stock fan with balanced rotor.
I guess 5S (not sure).

Monster size HET on 10S and fancy fan is worth over 2-3 MPH.

……and/or maybe some of the power or speed data from Wemo setups are off a little.

Edit: One more thing. See Gary's screen shot again. To me it appears that the 4.2KW is peak spike which is displayed before start of play back and again at end of file. So that means it draws less when the motor is spooled up.....unless he gradually raised throttle each time during the entire file.

Ordering now!!
Well I got those worm gear in and they don't fit

I tried taking the cross piece off and putting that on the eflite worm gear but it's a different size thread so that doesn't work either

Why the F does eflite not sell the right part?

Have you tried calling horizon hobby support? They will probably replace the defective unit for you if you ask.

I upgraded my Hau with Jet fan 80mm v2 fan, ARC 36-65-1 motor. I have a Castle 100 amp speed controller and bec. Battery is 6s xps 5000. System worked fine with stock eflite set up.

With the new fan motor combo soon as I advance past 1/2 throttle motor shuts down.

No idea where to start trouble shooting. Suggestions?

Thanks

Dennis

The CC ESC will have a data log. Download it and it will tell you the problem.

Strictly speaking it is not defective but damaged due to my own hard landing. I contacted Horizon and they will only sell a whole retract and not just the worm gear piece. I fly from a grass strip so will have future hard landings also. If I could I would buy a bag of ten of those parts and keep them to hand for field repairs.

It sounds like the voltage is dropping to 3.2 per cell and tripping the auto cutoff on the ESC. Your motor is 2080kv which is very close to the stock 2150kv. The load of the 9 blade JetFan could be higher than the stock 5 blade rotor. Your battery can't keep up. I would try a higher C rated battery.

The bearing on my nose retract seems to have fallen apart. Caused not a good connection between the worm gear and the gear the motor is connected to. Result was motor would spin but worm gear stayed stationary.. = no retract up/down.

So... I need a replacement bearing. Any ideas where to get one?

I measured 5mm outside diameter, 2.6mm inside diameter and 2.4mm bearing height.

Searched hi and low but only found one other site that seems to sell a gear for the retracts:
http://rc-castle.com/shop/product_in...roducts_id=785

i have no idea if that is even close though. Likely not. Difficult to find a bearing that is the right size too.

@Quandry.. you figure something out for your problem?
