Im thinking I want to make this my first turbine. if the Jetcat P-20 fits as well in here as I think it would, then why wouldnt it make the perfect first jet. My EDF's are great, But I think its time for an upgrade..

I was thinking more the 90mm market as a whole, not wemotec specifically.. HK keeps me in this hobby but they have their place can't see them as a threat to HH..

And that is what I like to hear .. after all doesn't matter whats in it if it's flying well

Figure $300 for the airframe only and built the way they were flying it, figure $1200. I was the 1 that originally posted those figures because that's what the HH guys told me at Ejets. It flew awesome at Ejets. It carried speed very well with the power off, vertical seemed unlimited but, I wasn't flying it so I'll just say it was very impressive. $1200 I figure is also with an E-flite 6s battery. Definitely should be able to cut the cost a little with a HK battery. Also IMHO it flew so well that no upgrading should be needed. Sure some will hot rod it but, It flew very fast, HH guys told me 120mph straight and level and 140mph out of a dive.

Here are my Ejets pics.

Color Scheme on bottom of the new Habu 32E

Does anyone have any pics of the bottom of the new Habu 32E. I am very curious to see if it is a contrasting color to the top of the aircraft.

You can order it direct from Jetcat, theres also a shop in canada called Great Hobbies that sells them. They don't have it listed yet but by the time I'm ready for it they will. The P-20 is still really new.

I was thinking the same thing, but I fly at an AMA field and do not yet have a turbine waiver. Unfortunately, the new AMA requirements for the waiver include:

"The qualification flight shall be completed by the following method:
1) Fixed wing: The qualification flight will be performed with a turbine powered model weighing at least 12 pounds (dry)."

That pretty much rules out the new Habu or any other P-20 powered jet. If you are not an AMA member then it obviously doesn't apply to you.

Well, in a way I can see the AMA's point. There are a few people flying hand launched foamies powered by the Lambert micro turbine. Getting a waiver on one of these would hardly seem to prove that you could later handle a 40lb 200mph jet with a 50oz plus wing loading. That, and I'm sure the insurance thing fits in somewhere.

So how does all this relate to the new Habu? John Redman said that the new Habu would be easily convertable to P-20 power. The cost of a turbine-ready Habu ( and others similar ) with all the gear ( minus engine of course) would be less than the landing gear alone on most turbine jets, thus making the entry to turbine power available to more of us, so the AMA with the weight limit has killed off a segment of the market for jets like the new Habu. Perhaps the solution would be two classes of waiver. One for jets under 5kg or so, and one for those over that amount. It would be nice to see the manufactures get behind something like this.

My club is hosting it's annual Super Jet South meet this week. I'll be talking it over with the powers that be there and see what their thoughts are.

that would be reasonable. i don't recall any under 12 pound turbine models until recently. with the new micro turbines this would make good sense. you may have two cookies.

I found this pic on another site. Not that great, but it does give some idea of the bottom color scheme.
