A lot of good information here while I am waiting my habu to arrive.

A little difficult to choose engine/fan setup. I do have a lot of 6S5000 packs so I will use that in my Habu.

Which motor/fan combo do you recommend for best performance?

What is so difficult? Seems pretty easy to me?

Congrads you just bought a VW Beetle, there are only 5,000,000 others out there, so you obviously got a collector item.

What to power it with?

Well most put a 1700mm kit in it wich allows it to accelerate up hills with very little modification.

But others choose to have some machine shop work on the heads done, to make it go better and put larger cylinders on it.

The common denominator is, that all end up with a Beetle.

well the post man just brought my Turnigy 40c 5000mah 6s packs now I can fly mine

Just put it on the watt meter bone stock 1754 watts and 74amps
I wonder if the 80amp eflight esc will hold up

Just impulsed bought one of these at the local HS. Got the stock setup but not the stock servos. I am going to use MN48s for the wing and rudder, with a hs82mg on the steering, and spektrum A5030 servos on the elevator.

I'll be using an ice 75 as well instead of the eflite 80 amp. I have some flightmax 6s 5000mah lipos.

I'll use the fixed gear for now.

Anybody got any warnings or gotchas I should worry about? I'll be reading this thread but if you can summarize anything important, thanks!

Don't use the screws that come with the gear. They will break. Buy #4 x 5/8 phillips flat head wood screws from the hardware store.

The canopy may pop off during high speeds. Put a 2mm Socket head cap screw into the threaded hole in the end of the canopy latch pin to extend it.

She will be fine, dont forget the amps will drop down as you fly. Peak amps are only for a ver short period at the begining of the flight.

Is the stock 6s setup going to be underpowered?

From the manual. . .

"Note: Use caution with high rates on the elevator and ailerons. High rates are only used for snap and spin aerobatic maneuvers. Middle rates are suggested for takeoff and landings. Low rates are suggested for standard flight maneuvers. If your radio only has the option for two rates, use the middle and low rates."

Depends what you mean by underpwered!!?? Guys think 130 MPH is underpowered...Some guys are loving it stock and refuse to change!

Nope. just alot of us like to go faster then 120mph.
Mines still stock and impresses everybody at the field when it flys.
Luckily theres no hopped up habus at my field yet!

Yep Bob, my 14lb Cougar is plenty fast! Just like your A-4, we'd still be flying them if they did mach 2 like yours!
