I'm told one bad landing with those wire struts and plastic trunions and your repairing the landing gear. With Tam's set-ups,(1409-1509-2Y-8S batteries)your increasing the weight of the Habu..that's why he developed the upgrades for the landing gear.I'm not in the air yet,and have'nt even tried the stock landing gear out, but, from all the great feedback on the Tam-Struts I have read in here,I purchased the upgrade,no questions asked.. Some in here even deem this upgrade a necessaty!!

If your ESC is seeing 155amps at full throttle it is also seeing 155A at 80% throttle except only part of the time. On top of that it is in PWM and seeing many many more transistor switches per given second, each one of them generating additional heat.

I wouldn't be surprised if your "lock out" was induced by either some kind of thermal overload protection or even by a burnt component in the ESC.

For your given solution to have worked you would have needed an ESC that could take at least 160A continuous, preferably more.

The moral in most cases (though not necessarily here... yet) is that you can't use throttle curves to curb current consumption, that only helps the motor, not the ESC.

BTW, some more information on this, you don't have to take it from me.

Look at the last FAQ at the bottom of the page on this CC web pae:

I would think the land would have to be REALLY bad then. I have dozens on my stock setup and they are holding up just fine. Sometimes I have to bend them just slightly but that takes a few seconds. I'm sure flying off of grass is a different story though...

Thanks a bunch, I didn't make up my mind yet on the motor/fan setup I'm going to use (So far I'm thinking about the DS-44 or Tams sweet ass TJ80 or Putting a Mega in the stock fan, One things for sure, I am going 8s).

I know I'm going to be close to 8lbs and I'm concern whether the eflite retracts can handle the weight + I'm going to fly mostly from grass.

But your reply pretty much cleared that part, Not so used to see the spring on the outside but if it works, who am I to say anything (Will have to get used to it)

Now wait for the right KV motor to do on 10s 3.5kw.
Tam, if you have a 6volt reg in stock, I'll stop by. thanks KG

Stock Retract Verification of Weakness

I talked to mr. walton at spring air he has 600 series set with flat mount nose gear that would be drop in with wires. but with tams prolinks, it doesnt completely close. I have asked him to look at trunion block and see if there is anyway I can modify to make it work and the retract may need to be installed lower in the wing mounts. Anyway, WE NEED STRONG AIR RETRACTS for habu 32 (or possibly better trained pilots...lool). TAM WINK WINK, otherwise I ll start my own retract business...lool

any other suggestions.

I might sound stupid to you or some, but that is because I'm new to EDF and electric flying.

At least I'm not ignorant and rude to others, I don't know what kind of a bug hit you today.

You are on a world web and with comments like the one you posted, you make yourself and other americans look bad.

Not professional at all.

Peace

I flew hard for 4 miniutes and pretty much empty the 3600mAh when I taxi back in. It only show 10% left on meter.
I fly normal for 4 minutes and still had 36% left.
I fly gentle with only few high speed pass for 4 minute and still had 46% left.

So it all depend on your speed you want to goes.

Yes stock plastic retract you got to be landing gentle with it.
If you stalling the plane few feets off the ground.
Two things can happen. You eigther broke the wing mouting rail or bust the gear frame.
My mini air retract can retrofit in the Habu 32 and it very tough gear.
But now you talking about plumping air lines, air tanks, retract valve and know how to trace for leak if there any.
It strong..but there is otherside is little more works.
Even I don't use it because want it simple E-Flite retract. There is days I can do 40 landing not a single problem. But I do have bad landing bust the gear once in a while if don't fly often. Just like this weeken. I had flow for months and get little rusty on landing.
No one is perfect....

BTW,
My computer is online and now time to works.

Rounding off main doors

Someone mentionned rounding the bottom of the main landing gear doors so they don't catch grass or the runway on landing. What is the best way to do that without chipping the paint ?
