dbgood, sorry for your crash. Did you have it on high rates per the manual?

Mine did the same thing in a turn. Nose dropped and straight into the ground. I was doing at least 90 mph at 1/2 throttle and a graceful turn. My guess is the dreaded accelerated stall.

My second "first flight" will be this Thursday, but I will be flying with wing twist and flight modes set to the flap setting: high rates on full flaps, mid rates on half flaps, and low rates with no flaps.

Hi,
Why would you want high rates on full flaps?

Cant understand why 155amps on a NEU 1509 2y,set at mid timing..
I hope you realize that setting a throttle curve on your radio to curb the amount of amps a watt meter is seeing is only good for the motor (and of course, the watt meter or data logger or whatever). Running an ESC at 80% throttle is probably the worst thing you can do to it as far as generating heat is concerned. If your ESC is seeing 155amps at full throttle it is also seeing 155A at 80% throttle except only part of the time. On top of that it is in PWM and seeing many many more transistor switches per given second, each one of them generating additional heat.

I wouldn't be surprised if your "lock out" was induced by either some kind of thermal overload protection or even by a burnt component in the ESC.

For your given solution to have worked you would have needed an ESC that could take at least 160A continuous, preferably more.

The moral in most cases (though not necessarily here... yet) is that you can't use throttle curves to curb current consumption, that only helps the motor, not the ESC.

Strange, hope its the 1509 2y in there and not some other higher kv neu motor.
And locked up i mean the 3rd turn with plenty enough speed as i was pulling out of the turn, the nose just dropped and as it was coming down, i pulled plenty of up elevator and no response came crashing nose down.
Planes ,jets are very easy to fly for me...I fly a Trex 700 E, 12 cell

We had verify this few page back.
You got 1800 watts testing on mid timing without install.
That is exactly correct. Install will be 2800 watts.
So there is no faulty with the fan or incorrect motor.
I'm very care full putting this unit together and spend up to an hour make sure it running smooth before ship.

Try to explain to me how you re-install the rotor back in after you got FOD and did you tested to make it running smooth.
Hope it not out of balance and cause the damage.

BTW,
If you notice something are not right. Don't fly it.
You should make the phone call for assistance and even send back to me to check it out.
Once you crashing it.
Nothing I can do.

I got 3 flight with TJ80SE yesterday.
2.9kw at 90A on 9s 3600mAh pack.
It was little faster than standard TJ80 on the same watts. I like it.
Now wait for the right KV motor to do on 10s 3.5kw.

Ok whats the story on this???? How are we stalling the airplane in a 90mph gracefull turn?? That does not sound right.. Can you clarify the "accelerated stall"

I don't how many Habu I had maiden and never once notice any stall in flight.
I only drop the plane on landing if coming to slow.

With the aircraft weight being over 7lbs (depends on the setup) and the retract only able to handle up to 7lbs, Does Tam's upgrade struts/trunion help with that? does it make a diffrence?

They do look a bit heavy duty compare to the wire struts.
