So bad times.

Not sure what happened really. Had the plane for over a year and apart from some dodgy Savox (non metal gear) servos I was sold, Plane hasn't missed a beat. Today I just pulled up and for some reason lost power completely. No Engine, No Radio. Went straight down into the ground. Held the last radio position like the battery had been pulled. When I checked it afterwards the 4mm gold had detached itself from the battery, but was also not in the esc connector, it was just loose on the ground. Also the Elevator servo's gears are stripped, servo sometimes works but now sometimes jams.

Think I'm gonna buy a replacement Airframe next week and maybe get a friend of mine (an electronic engineer) to resolder all my batteries. Love the airframe tons, the sad thing was that it was the first flight where I'd had everything perfect. Got the rates just right, and the COG just right for hands off inverted.

Going to put the Savox SH-0255's back in the Ailerons and Rudder, and Put something bigger on the elevator, thinking something Hitec?

So what's the best Elevator servo for a 48" MXS?

I think the HS-85MG is pretty much the standard for Hitec. That's what I've got in mine and it does the job.

BTW - sorry to hear about the crash.

Cheers, and what about a 5245MG? the Hole is big enough for it, it's only a few grams heavier and it's higher rated?

Or a HS225MG?

HS85MG works fine. I've got hundreds and hundreds of flights on multiple MXS' with that servo and no issues at all.

Use the dubro heavy duty arm and you can get 88 degrees of elevator! Make sure you are running the servos on 6 volts and the pitch authority is astounding.

Linky to the DuBro? and need to check what the voltage is set to on the ESC. Also is it worth using a seperate BEC? I saw a few pages back someone using a 10A Castle Bec?

Many Thanks

I believe thisd is it, and they have a decent price on them too. I would look on the pack to be sure, but I don't have one on hand. Call them to be sure, but it says they are for Hi Tec.

Yep, the 672...but will only work on the 85MG and 5085MG (and other big servos) not the hS65/5065mgs.

P.S. Don't buy the hobbyking versions, they are sloppy. (But if you like sloppy, I could send you the hobbyking ones I bought).

Difficult to get hold of them at a good price in the UK. Looking at the equivalent of $20 just for the horns :-/ I've been fine with the throw I was getting from the included fibre extension with the kit, I'll probably just use that again :P

Question. A friend of mine is getting one of these or has one but hasn't built it yet or something and he's trying to decide on servos. He likes the Savox SH-0255MG, but it's too small for the elevator servo hole. I think there's a piece of wood that comes with the ARF that is made to be glued into the servo hole in case you want to use the Hitec HS-65MG, but I'm not 100% sure. Am I right in thinking there's a piece that comes with the kit, or am I dreaming? Has anyone done an un-boxing video on this thing? I'm going to search youtube once I hit submit, but thanks in advance for your answers

P.S. I just searched youtube.. No joy.
