well... i am officially done with my msx... tired of going to the field and having to come home fixing it... >.< today again...needed to adjust wingtube before takeoff...and guess what? forgot to unplug servo and ripped out servo lead while taking the wing off... (can blame only myself on thisone because i knew that wingtube likes to get stuck, but still...msx is my unlucky plane...) hopefully going to get laser as a replacement..

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes you can get one that just doesn't suit you. The Laser us a lot more laid back type of plane. It's still extremely capable but it's not as edgey as the MXS.

That, and being a supertitious type I understand the whole bad luck thing.

Sorry to hear rimaarts...I love my MXS - not sure why this plane was such a pain...but it happens...I have had bogey planes....mine was a F35 EDF...the landing gear kept playing up...the thrust vectoring caused horrible stalls..and everything about it just wasn't right

rimaarts, the 48" MXS is an awesome plane...too bad you didn't like yours . It is one of my two favorites.

I get where your coming from, it took me a long time and lot's of flying to really like the MXS. Once I got it setup with a 14x7 prop and just spent a lot of time with it and learned to fly it the way it's designed to fly, instead of just trying to make it fly the way I thought it should fly. That's when things started to click and now it's just awesome and a great change from the rest of my planes. As far as a bad luck plane goes last Monday I tore up my four favorite planes in less than an hour, my 60" Edge, my 70" Slick, my 51" Sabre-X, and my 48" Skying MXS. A bad landing, a motor cutting out, flight stress, and dumb thumbs all took their toll, but two are already flying and the other two will be fixed this weekend since it will be raining.

Like my 48" MXS a lot more now that I am using a 14x7 prop as well (4S, Motrofly 2820-680).

I'm running the Sunnysky 2820-800KV on GensAce 4s 25c 2500mah batts. The motor comes from EP Buddy and is really sweet. I know the KV sounds high for 4s but it handles the 14x7 prop in stride no matter how hard I push it. My guess is that in reality the KV is lower than advertised.

Either that or the motor is just really well designed. The new motrolfly motors are 750 kv (actually more like 720... but still a lot) and there was a problem with them at first with the motors falling apart with the 14" prop. But Ken went back and made some changes to the motor and now you can beat the you-know-what out of them with a 14" prop and they hold true. I don't own the 720 because I got mine before the kv got upped to 720, but a friend of mine has a 720 in his 48" Edge EXP and it's just badass! But regarding your motor, I bet the amps are pretty high (I'm going to guess in the 60s just off my head without being too mathy) if it truely is 800kv. But I'm assuming it's probably more in the low to mid 50s which is where the 720kvs run (I think) with a 14" prop. I know my 680kv runs around in the mid to high 40s and my dad's 638 with a 14x7 runs around high 30s to low 40s

It's been quite a while since I put a watt meter on it but it seems like it was right around the mid fifty to upper fifty amp range. I'll try to check it this weekend if I get a chance.

I didn't have good results with the two 2820's that I got but dale took them back and refunded me the money.

I like mine best on a 12x6 but am using a 12x7. it harriers very well.

What kind of problems did you have? Were they the 800 KV?

Low rpm/power for what was advertised.
